Victims' families and a survivor of a Maryland bridge collapse that killed six people filed claims Friday for wrongful death and punitive damages against the owner and the operator of the massive cargo ship that crashed into the bridge earlier this year. The 100,000-plus-ton ship Dali slammed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge in the early hours of March 26 as a work crew was fixing potholes. Six construction workers died when the bridge went crumbling down into the Patapsco River. The nearly two dozen crew members on the ship survived, along with two pilots who were helping the vessel navigate the harbor. Days after the bridge collapse, the ship’s Singapore-based owner and manager petitioned a Maryland court to limit their monetary liability to $43.67 million, the value of the ship and its cargo, based on a pre-Civil War provision of maritime law.

Kenneth Hauck wasn’t sure how he would vote when the race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris was just a hypothetical scenario. Now it’s a reality, and Hauck still isn’t sure whom he will support — but he’s leaning toward Harris. Of the 21 previously undecided voters who recently spoke with NBC News, the largest group included nine voters like Hauck who said that they are still undecided but that they are concerned about Trump and are leaning toward picking Harris. Four more are definitely supporting Harris, while one is backing Trump, and three are leaning toward him. The voters, who come from different backgrounds and corners of the country, are bound by skepticism about politics and politicians.

The program had marked a shift in Denver’s strategy of housing migrants in massive temporary shelters to providing individual resources. Haiti clearly holds a place in the heart of Ohio’s Republican Gov. He’s been to the country at least 25 times with his wife, he said at a news conference Monday in Springfield. He respects the Haitians who have come to the US legally and found work in Springfield. Further, DeWine said the Haitians found Springfield because business owners there were having trouble finding workers after the Covid-19 pandemic. Like DeWine, Springfield Mayor Rob Rue has also tried very hard to correct the record on the role Haitians are playing in Springfield.

A shooting near my son's school in Los Angeles escalated our plans. In 2019, when my son was 2, a shooting took place at a shopping mall near his daycare center. In Japan, my son attends an international school because he's not yet fluent in Japanese. I knew people working two or three jobs, and they drove fast to get from place to place and fill their time with activities.
