The clip circulating online shows rounds being fired from an aircraft, with bullets then seen aiming toward the aircraft. Examples of the miscaptioned clip shared by social media users online can be viewed (here), (here), (here). The clip is inauthentic, however, and shows footage from Arma 3 gameplays, as confirmed to Reuters by a spokesperson for Bohemia Interactive, the developer of the game. A side-by-side comparison between the clip circulating online (L) and the above YouTube link (R) can be seen (ibb.co/T1jmb16). Reuters has repeatedly addressed clips from Arma 3 gameplays shared online with claims that the footage shows authentic scenes from the Ukraine war (here), (here).
A photograph of a heat map showing Republican voters in Maricopa County, Arizona, has been shared online along with unfounded claims that fraud was committed during the 2022 U.S. midterm elections. The Maricopa County Elections Department told Reuters that the picture circulating online has been cropped and that claims they only have the Republican heat map in their offices are false. In the MCTEC hallway, we have a Democratic In-Person Voter Turnout Map, a Republican In-Person Voter Turnout Map, and a Total Voter In-Person Turnout Map”, Gilbertson said. The Maricopa County Elections Department has maps with voter data on its website, including one of voting precincts by party majority (scroll down “Geography layers”) (here). A photograph of a heat map showing only Republican voters in Maricopa County does not prove that fraud was committed during the 2022 U.S. midterm elections, contrary to claims on social media.

A video showing Chile’s Minister of Social Development and Family, Karla Rubilar Barahona, standing next to former president of Chile Sebastian Pinera has been digitally altered. The text in one post reads: “Reptilian caught on camera or total hoax? Screenshots comparing the same moments in both the edited and original videos can be seen (ibb.co/album/rkqk7r), (ibb.co/album/0Vzr5N). Throughout the original video, Barahona’s eyes do not appear as they do in the clip being shared on social media. There is an overlap between the QAnon and reptilian conspiracy theories, with both citing the global elite controlling the world through prominent positions in government, Hollywood, and secret societies.
A clip of French President Emmanuel Macron being slapped across the face at a meet-and-greet with members of the public was filmed in June 2021, but users shared the clip in November 2022 with false claims that the president had been slapped again. In June, a court ordered Damien Tarel, the man who slapped Macron on June 8, to serve four months in jail, BFM TV reported at the time (here). The clip was not filmed recently, and instead, shows an angle filmed from the opposite side of a guard railing that separated the French president from members of the public on June 8, 2021. The earliest iteration Reuters found showing the fresh angle of the 2021 incident was uploaded to Twitter on Nov 12 by French lawyer, Juan Branco (archive.ph/LOlJZ). Branco told Reuters that he represents Tarel and confirmed that the clip showed a different angle of the same 2021 incident (here), (here).
Claims on social media that a photo of a pile of black bags at Arizona’s Maricopa County central tabulation location shows something fraudulent are missing key context. A spokesperson for the Elections Department of Maricopa County told Reuters the photo shows “canvass bags” used to transport voted ballots and results reports from polling locations. “This is from the live feed from Maricopa County a few minutes ago. The image circulating online captures a moment of the live video feed provided by Maricopa County Elections Department (here) (select Tabulation – View 1). In a press conference, Maricopa County District Supervisor Bill Gates said the county would have their “last big drop of votes” after 6 pm that day.
An old video showing a poll worker in Delaware County, Pennsylvania filling in blank ballots and stamping them has been shared again as alleged evidence of voter fraud in the 2022 midterm elections. According to election officials, the poll worker was transcribing damaged ballots, with poll watchers present during the process. Delaware County Pennsylvania. In 2020, Reuters addressed a similar allegation about a poll worker who was legally making duplicates for damaged ballots at Delaware County (here) (here). The transcribed ballots and the original damaged ballots and the batch report for the two are maintained together in the permanent records,” Marosfsky added.
New York CNN Business —A third railroad union has rejected a tentative labor deal, a move that further raises the odds that America’s 110,000 freight railroad workers will go on strike early next month. It is the smallest of 13 unions that represent more than 100,000 union members at the nation’s major freight railroads. The union’s brief statement on the vote said it “fully expects to continue negotiating further toward a satisfactory contract” with railroad management. A freight railroad strike would create massive problems for the US economy, snarling still-struggling supply chains and triggering widespread bottlenecks and shortages. Congress can also prevent or end a strike by extending a cooling-off period during which the unions cannot strike, or by imposing a contract on union members.
A video that shows an election inspector in Madison, Wisconsin writing their initials on ballots as required by state law has been miscaptioned by social media users. They falsely claim it shows an election worker in the hotly contested swing state of Pennsylvania “rigging” ballots for the U.S. midterm elections. Poll worker marking ballots” (here). The poll worker at the ballot table adds the second set of initials to the ballot just before handing the ballot to the voter. The clip shared on social media shows a poll worker initialing ballots as part of routine inspector duties required by Wisconsin state law and is not evidence of “rigging” ballots.
Even if the election results match expectations, stocks may still rally as some unknowns are removed. Broad sector ETFs from firms like iShares, State Street and Vanguard are one way to play these sectors, offering cheap broad exposure. For example, the Industrial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLI) and Vanguard Communications Services ETF (VOX) both have an expense ratio of 0.10%. Under-the-radar elections Federal elections are not the only contests on Tuesday that could move stocks. The biggest marijuana ETFs — AdvisorShares Pure US Cannabis ETF (MSOS) and ETFMG Alternative Harvest ETF (MJ) — are each down more than 50% for the year.

Spokespeople for Republican House Whip Scalise and Republican House Leader McCarthy also told Reuters no such graphic was released via the ‘Commitment to America’ channel.
A clip circulating online purporting to show Ukrainian military striking Russian Army tanks is not legitimate footage from the war but a part of a video game Arma 3. Other examples of the footage shared online can be found (here), (here). A search through Arma 3 gameplays uploaded to YouTube reveals a clip uploaded in July 2022 by the account MILMAN (bit.ly/3eG8MU8). Reuters has previously addressed video game footage shared erroneously by users online as showing authentic footage from the war in Ukraine (here), (here). A tweet dated Oct. 10 (here) that had 6,500 likes at the time of writing, shared the video with the claim: “ZELENSKY'S OFFICE WAS DESTROYED BY A MISSILE STRIKE: UKRAINIAN MEDIA”. Reuters found no evidence that the presidential office building in Kyiv was struck by a missile on this day. Kyiv City Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko released a statement on messaging app Telegram (here) listing the affected areas in Kyiv, which did not include the presidential office building. The area where the smoke is seen billowing from is likely close to Saksahanskoho St, behind a residential building (bit.ly/3SQOyWE), about two kilometers from the presidential office building on Bankova Street (bit.ly/3SQVdQT) (goo.gl/maps/ihUygBudbTguqi4z5).
