LONDON (Reuters) - South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol will pay a state visit to Britain in November following an invitation from King Charles, Buckingham Palace said on Tuesday. Charles will host Yoon and his wife Kim Keon-hee at the palace for the second official state visit of his reign. The first was by South Africa's Cyril Ramaphosa last November. The king previously met the South Korean president at a reception the evening before the funeral for his mother Queen Elizabeth in September last year. However, Liverpool came out transformed in the second half, drawing level in the 55th minute when Mohamed Salah set up fellow striker Cody Gakpo for a tap-in. "I thought the second half performance was impressive and we got what we deserved," said Robertson. Second half, we controlled it completely and it was a really good game then. "It looks like a comfortable win for Liverpool but it wasn't comfortable for most of the afternoon," said Wolves manager Gary O'Neil.

Fightbacks were the order of the day as Liverpool recovered from falling behind to win 3-1 at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the early kickoff and two goals deep into stoppage time earned Tottenham Hotspur a 2-1 win over Sheffield United. After another tumultuous week off the pitch for Manchester United, the club needed the players to lift their supporters. United fell behind in the 20th minute when Danny Welbeck slotted home against his former club when left unmarked in the penalty area. "Definitely that (losing three from five for the first time in Premier League history) is something that bothers me, but also I have to seen the way we play," coach Erik ten Hag said. Tottenham were heading for their first Premier League defeat under Ange Postecoglou as they trailed to Gustavo Hamer's goal against the run of play in the 75th minute.

South Korea Rail Workers Launch First Strike in Four Years
  + stars: | 2023-09-13 | by ( Sept. | At P.M. | ) www.usnews.com   time to read: +2 min
The Korean Railway Workers' Union demands improved pay and working conditions and an expansion of the KTX bullet train services to include lucrative routes such as in southern Seoul. Company chief Han Moon-hee criticised the strike as "illegitimate" and urged the workers to return to work. Labor Minister Lee Jeong-sik on Wednesday also called for the union to cancel the planned strike, citing an economic impact and public inconvenience. According to the Korea Cement Association, rail accounts for 40% of cement transportation, and if the strike lengthens, the reduced ability to deliver could affect firms' profitability during the fall's peak building season. If the strike lengthens, we will have to convert to land transportation, which will drive up costs and hit profitability," the official said.

“DNA has been really extremely helpful for us, with the Rapid DNA,” said Alison Galloway, professor emerita of anthropology at the University of California-Santa Cruz, who helped identify remains during the Camp Fire. “If you don’t have that … then it’s a lot more difficult.”In general, forensic experts rely on DNA, dental analysis, fingerprints, medical hardware or circumstantial evidence to try to identify remains. “We’re still diligently working trying to make sure that we can identify (remains), and that’s why that DNA is so important, because we got fingerprints from three,” he said. Galloway, the forensics professor, said one of the advantages of the Rapid DNA technology is in quickly determining whether a DNA swab is usable. Rescue workers are seen at a scene where, according to media reports, nine people have been stabbed and four others hurt by a car driven by the suspected attacker in Seongnam, South Korea, August 3, 2023. The unexplained rampage came days after another rare stabbing attack in Seoul which killed one person and wounded three others. "I've been telling my families and friends to stay home," a 31-year-old Seoul resident said. Police Commissioner General Yoon Hee-keun on Thursday warned South Koreans to be on guard for such attacks and told officials to be vigilant. Experts said there was a risk similar crimes could follow, and urged authorities to swiftly analyse patterns in recent rampage crimes to come up with countermeasures.

The police in Seongnam did not respond to phone calls seeking details about the incident and the suspect or suspects. Stabbings and car rampages are rare in South Korea. But the incident on Thursday shocked the nation less than a month after another stabbing at a subway station in Seoul left one person dead, three others injured and the public questioning its sense of safety. CNN —A giant panda at a South Korean zoo has given birth to the country’s first twin cubs. The palm-sized female pandas were born at the Everland Resort theme park southeast of the capital Seoul on July 7, the zoo said in a statement Tuesday. The twins’ birth is considered rare – there’s less than a 50% chance of pandas giving birth to twins – and in the wild, they struggle to survive as mothers can often only care for one of their cubs. A caretaker carries panda cub Fu Bao, about 100 days after her birth in 2020. It is estimated that around 1,800 pandas remain in the wild, mostly in the mountains of Sichuan, western China.

The 21-member South Korean team had focused during its six-day trip on water purification, transport and release equipment, as well as sampling and analysis facilities. The International Atomic Energy Agency is also conducting a safety review of Japan's plan to release the water.
