Track officials repair an area of track surrounding a drain as seen from the McLaren VISTA during practice ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Las Vegas at Las Vegas Strip Circuit on November 16, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Formula 1's return to Las Vegas was thrown into chaos as the opening practice session was cancelled after just eight minutes of action due to a broken drain cover damaging Carlos Sainz's car. Ocon's Alpine then suffered damage under the red flag when it hit the scattered debris left by the Sainz incident. A further 11 minutes passed before a decision taken to cancel the session, with second practice subsequently pushed back two hours from its scheduled start time to 10am. An FIA statement had earlier said: "Following inspection, it was the concrete frame around a manhole cover that has failed.

Wynn resort is offering the first-ever Las Vegas Grand Prix Million Dollar All-Access Experience that includes a $100,000 philanthropic gift. "However, the brand synergies with the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix are unmatched." Formula One has long been a magnet for the celebrity class and Las Vegas is sure to be an irresistible pull. Las Vegas may be the gambling capital of the world but there will be little bet on F1. "I would say this is due to lack of parity," Derek Stevens, owner of Circa and several other Las Vegas casinos told Reuters.

Formula One - F1 - Chinese Grand Prix - Shanghai, China - 6/4/17 - Formula One Managing Director of Motorsports Ross Brawn walks at the Shanghai International Circuit ahead of the Chinese F1 Grand Prix. The story has now been re-told in a four-part series 'Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story' on Disney+, with Hollywood A-lister Keanu Reeves the host and narrator. They had no engine to power the car until Mercedes, with the help of then-McLaren team boss Martin Whitmarsh, came to the rescue. "We had that wonderful period at the beginning (of 2009) when everyone assumed it was a slam dunk, you know? Márquez will leave his current team at the end of this season of Grand Prix motorcycle racing (MotoGP). Since then, a series of serious injuries and a drop-off in performance of the Honda bike relative to rival manufacturers, particularly the currently dominant Ducati, have prevented him from tilting at a record-equalling seventh premier class world championship. At Gresini Ducati, a satellite team of the flagship Ducati Lenovo factory team, Márquez will be riding what is currently the most dominant bike on the grid.

U.S. GP results stand after F1 stewards reject Haas appeal
  + stars: | 2023-11-09 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +2 min
Stewards ruled, in a lengthy statement, that Haas had presented no significant and relevant new element that was unavailable to them at the time of the Oct. 22 race in Austin, Texas. The decision was reached after a virtual hearing that started on Wednesday and was deferred to Thursday. Haas, last in the championship, sought the review during last weekend's Sao Paulo Grand Prix because they believed some rivals exceeded track limits without sanction. The U.S.-owned team argued that the track limit infringements were "neither noted, nor investigated nor penalized by the stewards as reflected in the final classification." The stewards found the onboard camera footage of Albon's Williams and following cars was significant but not new, previously unavailable or relevant.

The International Automobile Federation said in a statement it had "begun an analysis into the situation in Qatar to provide recommendations for future situations of extreme weather conditions. "Research from other series, such as cross-country events in extreme climates, will be examined for potential applications to circuit events." The FIA noted that next year's race in Qatar will be held in December, when temperatures should be lower, but said it preferred "to take material action now to avoid a repeat of this scenario."
