HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) — Zimbabwe has recorded 100 suspected deaths from cholera and more than 5,000 possible cases since late last month, prompting the government to impose restrictions to stop the spread of the disease, including limiting numbers at funerals and stopping some social gatherings in affected areas. The health ministry announced the death toll late Wednesday and said 30 of the deaths had been confirmed as from cholera through laboratory tests. Oct 5 (Reuters) - U.S.-based transportation and logistics technology firm SP Plus will be acquired by parking technology provider Metropolis Technologies in an all-cash deal worth about $1.5 billion, the companies said on Thursday. Shareholders of SP Plus will receive $54 per share, representing a premium of 52.5% over the stock's closing price on Wednesday. The offer price values the Chicago-based firm at $1.06 billion. SP Plus, which will go private after the deal is closed, provides parking management, facility maintenance and event logistics solutions among other services. Metropolis offers computer vision technology that is deployed in parking lots, enabling customers to drive without the need for a checkout.

TOKYO, Sept 21 (Reuters) - Toshiba (6502.T) said on Thursday that a $14 billion tender offer from private equity firm Japan Industrial Partners (JIP) had ended in success - a deal which paves the way for the embattled industrial conglomerate to go private. "Activist shareholders and Toshiba were stuck with each other for years. Toshiba in March accepted the buyout offer valuing the industrial conglomerate at 2 trillion yen ($13.5 billion). Although some shareholders were unhappy with the price, Toshiba argued that there was no prospect of a higher offer or competing bid. Deals involving private equity have been particularly active, including a planned $6.4 billion buyout of materials maker JSR by a government-backed fund.
