They're learning how to be parents in an unfamiliar environment, but there's one thing that could work in their favor: low childcare costs. The couple then moved to Seoul, South Korea, about two months ago, where they currently reside. "Full-time day care is really cheap," the 38-year-old told BI via email. Between 1983 and 2023, US childcare costs rose over 800% compared to a 300% increase for overall inflation, according to a BI analysis published last year. Like the overall market, Microsoft has been running higher of late as odds increasingly favor a 50-basis-point Fed cut. With so much hope on Wall Street, if the Fed were to go with a smaller 25-basis-point move, the market could get hit and pressure Microsoft stock. The Club has a $500 per share price target on Microsoft stock. That's our fundamental case, which aligns with technical analysis of Microsoft's one-year stock chart pattern. Read previewWith less than 50 days until the election, Senate Democrats are putting Republicans — and Trump — in the hot seat on IVF. On Tuesday, Senate Democrats are bringing the Right to IVF Act to a second vote, just 3 months after Republicans in the chamber first shot it down. They want to pressure Trump to stand by his promise to support IVF and urge his Republican colleagues to vote in favor. "If Donald Trump and Republicans want to protect people's right to access IVF, they can vote yes on it," Illinois Sen. Tammy Duckworth, who sponsored the legislation, told CBS News. Trump jumped in to voice his support of the procedure, and by May, two GOP senators were introducing a package to protect IVF access, though Democrats rejected it, arguing it didn't go far enough.

Read previewA busy office worker said he transformed his physique in four months thanks to an efficient workout plan. AdvertisementIn theory, researchers and trainers say, the combos allow one muscle group to rest while you're working a different muscle group with another exercise, tapping into the benefits of rest without added time. A superset involves performing exercises back-to-back without a break, and can save time by allowing one muscle group to rest while another is working. Using supersets, you can create a full-body plan, and work out harder, because you're not exhausting any one muscle group. Doing a few sets per muscle group more frequently allowed him to make each set count by adding more weight and pushing himself harder, he said.

The Federal Reserve is widely expected to start cutting interest rates Wednesday afternoon. Those yields are expected to start coming down sharply as the Fed begins to ease back on generationally high rates. Adding some duration Duration refers to a bond's price sensitivity to changes in interest rates. A bond yield moves inversely to its price, so that when bond prices rise, yields decline. Though investors in the space may be concerned about prepayment risk, especially as interest rates come down and homeowners look to refinance, Cetera says that worry may already be priced in.

Kamala Harris just got one of her best polls of the year
  + stars: | 2024-09-17 | by ( Harry Enten | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +5 min
CNN —One of the best pollsters in America recently came out with its latest survey, and it’s good news for Kamala Harris. That result fell well short of the lead he had in preelection state polling. The fact that the Selzer poll is indicating a similar shift in Harris’ favor in Iowa makes me think the Wisconsin polls may be on to something. This Selzer poll could also be an outlier, and much could change between now and Election Day. The bottom line: You’d much rather have the Selzer poll in your corner than not.

The deal, if approved, would put six fashion brands under a single company: Tapestry’s Coach, Kate Spade and Stuart Weitzman, with Capri’s Versace, Jimmy Choo and Michael Kors. Yet, in his remarks, Kors described how even legacy brands like his own can struggle and lose shoppers’ interest. Shares of Capri, which includes Michael Kors, reflect the tougher stretch that the designer Kors described. In its most-recent fiscal quarter that ended in late June, Michael Kors’ revenue dropped 14.2% on a reported basis or 13.3% on a constant currency basis compared to the year-ago period. Gennette, who retired early this year, said the department store’s sales got hit because it leaned too heavily on Michael Kors’ brand.

Is TikTok trying to secretly influence Americans at the behest of the Chinese government? And an analysis of the ownership structure of TikTok parent company ByteDance, obtained by NBC News, argues that the company is deeply entangled with some of China’s major government propaganda organs. The most recent one, published last month, found that TikTok suppresses anti-China content compared to YouTube and other social media platforms. In recent years, according to media reports, Chinese government entities have increasingly taken golden shares in technology companies. “This report establishes that TikTok algorithms actively suppress content critical of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) while simultaneously boosting pro-China propaganda and promoting distracting, irrelevant content,” the researchers wrote.

If you're looking to build wealth, traditional forms of investment aren't going to get you there — at least according to young, rich people. For younger wealthy investors, though, stocks come in behind seven other types of investments, including real estate, cryptocurrency, private equity and direct investment into companies. Klontz says that younger wealthy investors may be falling victim to some of the same cognitive biases that regular investors do — and it may be holding them back from maximizing their returns. Young people have ignored traditional advice 'for thousands of years'In general, it's not surprising that younger investors, regardless of wealth level, want to chart a different path than older generations. Attorneys for the US government and the widely popular social media app faced off on Monday in a federal appeals court as TikTok fights against a law that could soon see the platform banned in the country. In battleground Pennsylvania, a must-win state for Harris, Biden spoke to a Philadelphia conference attended by leaders of historically Black colleges and universities. The divided ground game by the vice president and her boss-turned-top surrogate, aides say, is all part of a plan. Even watching Harris do what he failed disastrously to do during his own debate with Trump, Biden has evinced only pride in his vice president, not bitterness. In 2000, Vice President Al Gore sought distance from scandal-marred President Bill Clinton as he campaigned against George W. Bush. Biden is now one of several high profile surrogates the Harris campaign will seek to deploy.

Bryan Kohberger, the man accused in the murders of four University of Idaho students, was transported by plane Sunday morning from the Idaho county where he was being jailed to another county where his trial will be held. Latah County District Judge John Judge had ruled in favor of lawyers for Kohberger, 29, who argued a trial in Latah County would be unfair because of the intense pretrial publicity creating a "mob mentality" against the defendant. "While the issue of extensive, sensationalized coverage is not unique to Latah County," Judge added, "it is potentially more impactful given the volume of coverage coupled with the smaller population." Despite the change, Latah County prosecutors and Kohberger's public defenders are expected to remain through the trial. Some of the victims' families have expressed frustration over the trial's delay and had pressed for the case to remain in Latah County so that its residents could represent the jury.
