But there's no denying that a large number of people, mostly women, found Joe Arden's voice to be exceedingly hot: smooth, insistent, husky, occasionally dropping to a seductive growl. Arden's voice made him one of the most popular romance audiobook narrators of his generation. Last year, a promising new romance author reached out to Blue Nose Audio and received a reply from Joe Arden. "My working name of 'Joe Arden,' has always been just that, a professional persona that labeled my career," he added. For good measure, they dug up Cronin's abandoned trademark application for the Joe Arden moniker, first filed in 2020.

Researchers in South Korea say they’ve developed a new way to make lab-grown meat taste like the real deal. It may look like a transparent, bubble gum pink-colored disc, but scientists hope it could revolutionize the meat on people’s plates. Because the cultured meat is not yet edible, the researchers used an electronic nose, to test the aromas of the cultured meat, and see how they compare to conventional meat. Ron DeSantis banned the sale of lab-grown meat in the state in what he said was an effort to protect farmers and ranchers. In May, Huber’s Butchery in Singapore became the first retail store to sell cultured meat, a shredded chicken by Good Meat made with just 3% cultivated meat.

For Warren Buffett, his being born in America is the biggest contributing factor to his unmatched success. He believes the same promise that the nation has brought in the past also rings true today and will benefit generations of investors to come. The reverse is not true," Buffett said in his 2022 annual letter. Buffett has said that's a fact that should scream to ordinary investors: "Never bet against America." Although larger grocery stores will offer a bigger variety, it generally won't be as vast as an American supermarket. For instance, urban grocery stores in Germany simply don't have the physical capacity the way many American grocery shops do, allowing American shops to stock numerous brands and types of the same product. You have to bag your own stuffAt most major American grocery stores, your groceries generally get bagged for you as you check out. Most Germans do their grocery shopping at standard and discount grocery stores. Opening times at German grocery stores may seem short in comparison to US storesMany Americans who visit Germany are surprised to find that German grocery stores have more limited opening times than they are used to.

Which has me thinking back to one of the viral moments from her husband’s 2020 campaign. On the night of Super Tuesday, as Joe Biden was delivering his celebratory speech at a rally in Los Angeles, two anti-dairy demonstrators rushed the stage, only to run smack up against the protective wall of Dr. Biden. There is an amazing photo of her grimacing and holding a protester at bay by the wrists as Mr. Biden looks on with concern. That is who Dr. Biden is, fiercely and reflexively, when it comes to protecting and supporting her husband. And those looking to recruit her to encourage Mr. Biden to reconsider his presidential bid may sorely misunderstand her — and their marriage.

“Diet soft drinks were the key contributor to ultraprocessed food consumption. The NOVA classification system sorts foods from minimally processed — whole foods such as fruits and vegetables — to processed foods such as deli meat and sausage — to ultraprocessed. The study found that people who consumed the most ultraprocessed food were younger and heavier, and had an overall poorer quality of diet than those who ate fewer ultraprocessed foods. “If anything, we are probably underestimating ultraprocessed food consumption in our study because we’re being very conservative,” Loftfield said. “However, all categories of ultraprocessed food were associated with increased risk.”Choosing more minimally processed foods is a one way to limit ultraprocessed foods in one’s diet, Loftfield said.

Luckily his close friends, Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates and his then-wife Melinda, went to great lengths to ensure he wouldn't starve. "To his delight he was served course after course of his french fries —even for dessert," Schroeder reported. When they stopped at restaurants for lunch and dinner, Buffett was again served burgers and fries while the others chowed down on Chinese food. During a scenic private cruise, Buffett, Gates, and Gates' dad played bridge. "Buffett towed the Gateses straight to McDonald's to buy hamburgers in the middle of the night," Schroeder wrote.

Read previewContaminated milk may be spreading H5N1 bird flu between dairy cattle, contributing to a major outbreak across 12 US states. A new study shows the virus can survive for over an hour in raw (unpasteurized) milk left on the surfaces of materials used in equipment for milking dairy cattle. That's a clue in the mystery of how the virus has spread so rapidly between US dairy cattle, infecting over 130 herds in Idaho, Michigan, Colorado, Texas, and more. The cattle outbreak has scientists increasingly worried that the H5N1 virus could mutate enough to cause an outbreak in humans. However, the study suggests that cleaning milking equipment between cows and outfitting workers with protective gear could help prevent the spread.

London CNN —Dairy farmers in Denmark face having to pay an annual tax of 672 krone ($96) per cow for the planet-heating emissions they generate. The country’s coalition government agreed this week to introduce the world’s first carbon emissions tax on agriculture. On average, Danish dairy cows, which account for much of the cattle population, emit 5.6 tonnes of CO2-equivalent per year, according to Concito, a green think tank in Denmark. Using the lower tax rate of 120 krone results in a charge of 672 krone per cow, or $96. With the tax break in place, that levy will rise to 1,680 krone per cow in 2035 ($241).

How does the planetary health diet compare to other diets? But what makes the planetary health diet different from other popular eating patterns like the Mediterranean diet or the heart-healthy DASH diet? And maybe in higher quantities than the planetary health diet, because it's not looking specifically at planetary health," Vadiveloo notes. The planetary health diet also places more limits on total fat consumption than the DASH diet does, she adds. The popular diet has a higher emphasis on unsaturated fat components like olive oil and fish compared to the planetary health diet.

O’Reilly, a high-flying, charming, Irish-born former chairman of the H.J. Heinz Company, who also owned newspapers, luxury brands and trophy homes in France and the Bahamas, only to lose nearly everything in his eighth decade, died on May 18 in Dublin. The Irish Times and other Irish newspapers, citing a family spokesman, reported that he died in a hospital. From his earliest days, Mr. O’Reilly, who was known as Tony, displayed an embarrassment of gifts. He was an elite-level rugby player while still in his teens — the “redheaded pinup boy of Irish rugby,” as The Guardian put it.

After my kids were born, my love for online grocery ordering grew even more. While I used to use a grocery delivery service nearly every week, I only use it in a pinch now. On top of that, there can be things like pick-up fees, service fees, delivery charges, and tips if you use a grocery delivery service. All of this means that I end up having to go to the grocery store anyway, usually stressed because I was counting on the grocery delivery service to save time. Using a grocery delivery service can save time and energy, but it also comes with added costs and, oftentimes, frustration.

Once-obscure chipmaker Broadcom has enjoyed a record-setting rally that's pushed its market capitalization inches behind Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway conglomerate and its portfolio of household names and economic bellwethers. When Broadcom hit an all-time high earlier this week, its market capitalization briefly surpassed drug maker Eli Lilly's. As of Tuesday's close, Broadcom had a market cap of $839 billion, right behind Eli Lilly's $845 billion and Berkshire's $882 billion. Omaha-based Berkshire is currently No.7 in market value, after a cluster of megacap technology giants. Big AI beneficiary Broadcom, meanwhile, is seeing strong demand from customers in need of high-capacity chips that can power complex AI applications.

How worried you should be about H5N1, the bird flu virus spreading on dairy farms in the United States, depends on whom you are. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has described the current H5N1 risk to the general public as low. The risk that the virus poses is tempered by the fact that it doesn’t spread easily among people — yet. Right now public-health experts have the difficult task of urging authorities who can do something about H5N1 to take action, while maintaining public trust. Experts need to be clear that currently, the levers of action are squarely in the hands of government leaders and agricultural interests, not in the hands of the general public.

Much to my surprise, Dairy Queen's ice-cream cake was my absolute favorite. The Dairy Queen ice-cream cake didn't even need real cake. I would definitely get another ice-cream cake from Cold Stone, but I'd try different flavors that might be less intense and overpowering.
