The DOJ also said it was "considering behavioral and structural remedies that would prevent Google from using products such as Chrome, Play, and Android to advantage Google search and Google search-related products and features — including emerging search access points and features, such as artificial intelligence — over rivals or new entrants." Kent Walker, Google's president of global affairs, said the company plans to appeal the ruling and highlighted the court's emphasis on the high quality of Google's search products, which the judge also noted in his ruling. In the second quarter, "Google Search & Other" accounted for $48.5 billion in revenue, or 57% of Alphabet's total revenue. The company holds 90% of search market share.

The Georgia Supreme Court on Monday reinstated the state’s six-week abortion ban while it reviews an appeal from the state of a lower court ruling that had struck down the law. The state Supreme Court's decision, however, left in place the lower court’s ruling blocking a separate provision of the law that had given state prosecutors broad access to the medical records of abortion patients without due process protections. The state's near-total abortion ban, known as the LIFE Act, was signed by Republican Gov. WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Monday rejected an appeal brought by X, Elon Musk's social media company, declining to decide whether prosecutors should have been able to obtain data from former President Donald Trump's Twitter account without him being notified. The case arose as part of special counsel Jack Smith's investigation into Trump over alleged election interference in 2020, which the Supreme Court stymied earlier this year by ruling that presidents have broad immunity from prosecution for official acts taken in office. Smith has already obtained the data at issue in the appeal brought by X, as Twitter is now known following Musk's takeover of the social media company. The CFTC had barred KalshiEx from listing its congressional contracts on the exchange, which the commission regulates, on the ground that they would violate the laws of many states that ban gambling on elections. But a judge in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., ruled last month that the CFTC had erred in finding that KalshiEx's congressional contracts involved gaming or gambling. The Federal Supreme Court (STF) in Brazil suspends Elon Musk's social network after it fails to comply with orders from Minister Alexandre de Moraes to block accounts of those being investigated by the Brazilian justice system. X has to pay one last fine before the social network owned by Elon Musk is allowed back online in Brazil, according to a decision out Friday from the country's top justice, Alexandre de Moraes. Earlier this month, X filed paperwork informing Brazil's supreme court that it is now in compliance with orders, which it previously defied. X's legal representative in Brazil, Rachel de Oliveira, is also required to pay a fine of 300,000 reals. Earlier this month, the STF froze the business assets of Musk companies, including both X and satellite internet business Starlink, operating in Brazil.

Prosecutors from Smith's office have said that such a filing is necessary because it would address the Supreme Court's concerns about presidential immunity issues in the case while limiting the number of possible appeals. They have asked U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who is overseeing the election interference case, to allow them to file a 180-page brief on the issue by Thursday.
