The White House said the United States had informed Iraq ahead of strikes. Baghdad later accused the United States of deception, saying a U.S. claim of coordination with the Iraqi authorities was "unfounded". The Syrian foreign ministry said the United States was fuelling conflict in the region in a "very dangerous way". The United States has assessed that the drone that killed the three soldiers and wounded more than 40 other people in Jordan was made by Iran, U.S. officials have told Reuters. Iranian advisers assist armed groups in both Iraq, where the United States has around 2,500 troops, and Syria, where it has 900.

Ukraine said it damaged two Russian command aircraft — a Russian A-50 radar early-warning plane and Ilyushin Il-22 airborne command post — on Sunday, hitting the planes with its air defense systems. A photo that purports to show the wing of a Russian Il-22 aircraft shared by pro-war Russian milblogger Fighterbomber. Considering those losses together, Manon said: "For the Russian Air Force, it's kind of embarrassing." Given the limited supply, the latest developments are "a pretty big loss" for Russia, Manon said, adding that these aircraft are a key resource for Russia. Ukraine says it needs more air defense equipment, with Russia trying to erode Ukraine's stockpiles to clear the way for unobstructed attacks.

Here is a closer look at Israel’s raid on the Shifa Hospital. Israel has long claimed that Hamas uses hospitals, schools, mosques and residential neighborhoods as human shields. In particular, it says Hamas has hidden command centers and bunkers underneath the sprawling grounds of Shifa. The Israeli military has released videos showing AK47s, ammunition and other military equipment it said was found in the hospital’s MRI unit. Israel has not said where the Shifa tunnel leads to or given specifics on what it was used for.

CNN —Gaza’s largest hospital, Al-Shifa, has become a flashpoint in the conflict that began when Hamas militants crossed the border into Israel on October 7, killing around 1,200 people. CNN has not verified the claims of either Israel or Hamas. Israel has repeatedly accused Hamas of operating from tunnels beneath the vast complex of Al-Shifa hospital. The IDF also published an “intelligence-based” illustrated video of what it claims the Hamas headquarters under Al-Shifa looks like. The White House has backed Israel’s claims, saying that Hamas was storing weapons and operating a command node from the Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza, citing US intelligence.

Israeli soldiers from the 7th Brigade escorted journalists to see a stone-and concrete-shaft on the grounds of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City on Thursday. But Col. TEL AVIV—Israeli troops reached at least one of the gates of Gaza’s largest hospital where Israel says Hamas conceals a major center of operations, while medical staff reported deteriorating conditions inside because of a lack of supplies and electricity. The Health Ministry in Hamas-run Gaza said Israeli military vehicles were at the southeast gate of Al-Shifa Hospital, and an Israeli military spokesman confirmed that troops had reached one of the gates. Israel alleges that Hamas runs four underground complexes and a command-and-control center at the hospital, a claim Hamas denies.
