LONDON, Nov 15 (Reuters) - Writer, director and actor Emerald Fennell follows up her Oscar-winning feature debut "Promising Young Woman" with a starry satirical thriller, "Saltburn". Oliver's status and confidence are given a boost when Felix invites him to spend the summer at Saltburn, his family's sprawling countryside estate. "Promising Young Woman", which earned Fennell a best original screenplay Oscar, came out in 2020 and its release during the COVID pandemic helped ease some of the sophomore film pressure, Fennell said. Fennell, whose acting credits include "Barbie" and "The Crown", said she spent years writing the script in her head, revisiting the characters and the locations. The star of her debut film, Carey Mulligan, also makes an appearance in "Saltburn", alongside Rosamund Pike and Richard E. Grant, who play Felix's parents.

CEO Bob Iger suggested as early as March that the company should decrease the number of sequel films Marvel releases in favor of bringing newer characters and stories into the mix. Box office analysts aren't ready to wave the white flag on the MCU, which has left rival DC, owned by Warner Bros. The promise was that the events of the shows would come full circle and influence the content of Marvel's films. Brie Larson stars as Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel in Disney and Marvel's "The Marvels." It is expected that this Deadpool film will follow carry an R rating, which would be a first for a Marvel Cinematic Universe feature.

A billboard for the Netflix film "Thar" is seen on a street in Mumbai, India, May 19, 2022. "Every broadcaster or broadcasting network operator must establish a Content Evaluation Committee (CEC) with members from various social groups," stated the draft law document, which is open for public consultation for 30 days. The proposal however comes at a time of increasing scrutiny of streaming companies in India over content-related issues. Under the new proposed law, the federal government "can define the CEC's size, quorum, and operational details" and only those shows shall be broadcast that are "duly certified" by such a committee, the draft law stated. LONDON, Nov 9 (Reuters) - A new film "Callas - Paris, 1958" is about to transport audiences back to the night 65 years ago when opera legend Maria Callas for the first time dazzled a Paris audience. Celebrities including Charlie Chaplin, Brigitte Bardot and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, as well as then French president René Coty attended the three-hour performance at the Paris Opera. It was also broadcast live on television to more than 30 million people, but until film-maker Tom Volf and his team meticulously restored film reels that had lain forgotten, it had only been seen in black and white. He said the work of his team made the film "as vivid as if it was shot last month". It will be released in cinemas in some 40 countries between November and December in celebration of the centenary of Callas' birth.

Seoul, South Korea CNN —South Korea has become the latest country to declare war on bedbugs following a wave of outbreaks, with bathhouses, university dorms, and train stations across the country on high alert. Previously, the country had been practically free of bedbugs following past extermination campaigns, with just nine infestations being reported to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention (KDCA) since 2014. Meanwhile, pest control companies say they have become inundated with phone calls asking for help. “Bedbugs are developing resistance to the insecticides that we commonly use, so the most effective solution these days is heating. “Early and proactive responses are crucial.”In its “Bedbug Prevention and Response Guidelines,” the Seoul City Government advises people against bringing items with a risk of infestation into their homes.

Give Me a Break! The Case for an Intermission

Recently, distributors behind the new Martin Scorsese epic “Killers of the Flower Moon” issued a warning to a small group of cinemas that had reportedly been inserting unauthorized intermissions inside the 3-hour, 26-minute film. I’m not going to question the choices of a master like Scorsese, who, approaching age 81, has earned the right to show his movies however he wants. I’ll even defend his power to make a serious film lasting more than three hours. He’s Martin Scorsese! He’s not making “Herbie, the Love Bug.”

Taylor Swift fans had just eight hours to buy tickets for last-minute Thursday night previews of her Eras Tour concert film. Box office analysts don't see the small Thursday night haul as any indication of the potential success of Swift's film. Expectations are that Swift could tally between $40 million and $60 million on Friday, on her way to a an opening weekend draw of as much as $150 million. Swift's film is on pace to open in around 3,850 theaters, making it the widest domestic release of a concert film. AMC Entertainment, which is distributing the film, reported last week that presales for its theaters had already exceeded $100 million for the full run of Swift's film.

U.S. singer-songwriter Taylor Swift performs during her The Eras Tour concert at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on Aug. 7, 2023. Taylor Swift has sold out stadiums worldwide and now she's packing cinemas, with her sights set on a $100 million opening weekend for her The Eras Tour concert film — and that's on the conservative side. Box office analysts predict Swift's film could generate as much as $150 million during its debut this weekend, a figure that would make it the highest opening of a concert film ever, and also one of the highest openings of 2023. The film is expected to draw those who were unable to attend, as well as spark repeat viewings. But “The Eras Tour” heralds something new and potentially game-changing in the movie industry. BTS earlier this year released a concert film, with higher ticket prices and limited showtimes. "The Exorcist: Believer" possessed the box office during its opening weekend, but industry experts wonder if it will continue to turn heads in the weeks to come. Still, on a production budget of just $30 million, "The Exorcist: Believer" could prove profitable if it continues to lure moviegoers in the coming weeks. "The Exorcist: Believer" fled from its original release date (Oct. 13) because Swift announced her Eras Tour concert film would arrive in cinemas that day. The film quickly snared the coveted, higher priced, premium format screens, leaving little room for "The Exorcist: Believer" to eke out a solid opening.
