Benjamin Netanyahu said he hopes Donald Trump will condemn antisemitism following his dinner with Ye and Nick Fuentes. Netanyahu, a longtime ally of Trump's, won reelection last month and is due to resume power as Prime Minister. Trump faced backlash from his own party following his Mar-a-Lago dinner with Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West who has spouted anti-semitic threats, and white nationalist Nick Fuentes. He has yet to denounce Kanye West at all. "On this matter, on Kanye West and that other unacceptable guest, I think it's not merely unacceptable, it's just wrong.
Dr. Anthony Fauci said on NBC's "Meet the Press" that China's approach has been "rather draconian." On CNN's "The Lead with Jake Tapper," Fauci said lockdowns should be temporary. "Their approach has been very, very severe and rather draconian in the kinds of shutdowns without a seeming purpose," Fauci said in an interview on Sunday with NBC's "Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd. On CNN's "The Lead with Jake Tapper," Fauci reiterated on Monday that China needs to communicate a clear reason to the population for having lockdowns. Part of China's so-called "zero-COVID" strategy is to completely eradicate infection cases in areas where even a small number of coronavirus cases are found by implementing stringent lockdowns.
Trump dismissed his "capable" lawyers after the 2020 election in favor of attorneys pushing conspiracies, Mike Pence said. Pence said attorneys told Trump that the VP had the authority to overturn the election. In an NBC News interview, Pence declined to say whether Trump committed criminal acts following the election. He had, beginning in mid-November, dismissed some of the extraordinary and capable attorneys that were serving in the White House and serving in the campaign and replaced them with a gaggle of lawyers who brought in conspiracy theories and made promises that they never kept," Pence said. Former President Donald Trump's team distanced itself from Sidney Powell in November 2020.
Mike Pence on NBC News said he was "disappointed" in ex-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows' tenure. He said "it was clear" that Meadows swayed Trump against the White House coronavirus briefings. The former vice president felt that the briefings served the public well earlier in the pandemic. What General John Kelly did when he became White House chief of staff, and what frankly all the best White House chiefs of staff have done throughout history, is make sure that the only people that get into the Oval Office are people that have the credibility to be there. Meadows served as White House chief of staff from March 2020, during the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, until January 2021.
Former VP Mike Pence continues to dodge questions on whether he thinks Donald Trump is fit for office. Trump announced his 2024 presidential bid last week but got a muted GOP response with few endorsements. Pence is said to be considering a 2024 run himself, though he has not yet committed. "President Trump has now announced his intention to seek reelection." Trump launched his 2024 bid for the presidency last week and received a lackluster response from the GOP.
Former Vice President Mike Pence, who huddled in the bowels of the U.S. Capitol on Jan 6, 2021 as angry Trump supporters searched for him, tells “Meet the Press” that “no one is above the law” when asked about former President Donald Trump. But the former vice president, who Trump publicly blamed for not halting a peaceful transfer of power, also warned the Biden administration about over-reaching in their attempts to hold Trump to account. “I don’t know if it is criminal to listen to bad advice from the lawyers,” Pence told “Meet the Press” Moderator Chuck Todd in an interview on Thursday. But I would hope the Justice Department would give careful consideration before they take any additional steps in this matter,” Pence said. Pence says he has not hesitated to criticize the former president when he thinks he was wrong, though stops short of calling him unfit for office.
Sen. Bill Cassidy spoke up in defense of Republican leaders following disappointing midterm results. Cassidy said there's not "one person who leads our party" unless it's a sitting president. We're not like, 'Okay, there's one person who leads our party,'" Cassidy said. Much of the criticism has been aimed at former President Donald Trump after several of his hand-selected candidates lost their races. "I think our next candidate will be looking to the future, not to the past, and I think our next candidate will win.
In Arizona Senate, Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly is ahead of Republican Blake Masters by 115,000 votes with 80% in. On Dobbs, the national exit poll showed 27% of voters picking abortion as their No. And remember that our final NBC News poll found Trump as one of the most unpopular political figures we measured, especially compared with President Biden. In each state, those Democratic secretaries of state nominees were running against Republicans who cast doubt on the 2020 election result. Two of those five feature Democrat vs. Democrat contests, thanks to the state’s Top 2 primary, so those will stay in the Democratic column.

While Maricopa County election officials initially categorized the problem as a “hiccup,” it took hours before a solution was identified early Tuesday afternoon. According to the poll, 46% of voters said their family’s financial situation is worse than it was two years ago. Civil rights groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union and the NAACP, filed a similar complaint Friday against state election officials. The app and portal had been down for part of the morning and the state's election hotline also briefly experienced issues. In Columbus County, election officials allegedly were harassed by an “observer following one-stop workers” and photographing or filming the workers, it said.
Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, on Sunday declined to say whether he would run for majority leader if Republicans gain control of the Senate in the midterm elections. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., has faced intraparty backlash after declining to support former President Trump’s false claims of a stolen 2020 election. Scott appeared to take aim at McConnell in an op-ed published in the conservative news site Washington Examiner in September. In the final weekend before the midterm elections, senators from both sides of the aisle appeared on Sunday programs to express confidence in their party's prospects of winning control of the chamber. Republicans can “absolutely” get to at least 52 Senate seats, Scott said.

Sen. Rick Scott said he doesn't know any Republicans who want to change Social Security or Medicare. They have also suggested raising the age to collect Social Security and raising health insurance premiums for seniors. Democrats have honed in on the line about Social Security spending, using it to campaign against Republicans. On NBC News' "Meet the Press" on Sunday, host Chuck Todd asked Scott about his position on Social Security. Why put Social Security into the political arena every five years?
This standoff will shift the terrain only by inches, even if it does help change which party has technical control of Congress. As for resolving the larger argument, that’s still a decision that the country makes during presidential elections, not midterms. For Republicans, a populist questionNeither party is currently prepared for the coming 2024 fight because both have unresolved internal issues that the midterm results may put into sharper focus. But the fact of the matter is, they are losing on the crime issue — not by a little, but a lot. But just because the fight is public and ugly, doesn’t mean it isn’t necessary and eventually helpful ahead of 2024.

Sununu doesn't believe there's "any need" for attack ads against Nancy Pelosi ahead of the midterms. On NBC's "Meet the Press," Sununu said the paramount goal at the moment is the speaker's safety. Chris Sununu on Sunday said he didn't believe there was "any need" for attack ads against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ahead of the midterms after her husband was violently attacked in California last week. "No, I don't think there's any need for the attack ads," the governor said. "All our thoughts and prayers and sympathy have to go out to Nancy Pelosi, her entire family, her husband, of course."
Sen. Amy Klobuchar said she does not trust Elon Musk as the new owner of Twitter. "No, I do not," Klobuchar replied before rebuking social-media companies for "making money" off of amplifying "stuff that's a bunch of lies." I just don't think people should be making money off of passing on this stuff that's a bunch of lies," Klobuchar said on Sunday. They are making money off of this violence," Klobuchar said. Klobuchar added that social-media companies bear some responsibility in staving off political violence, referencing the attack on Paul Pelosi on Friday.
Liz Cheney predicted a "splintered" Republican party if Trump wins the 2024 nominee. Cheney has previously said that she will no longer be a Republican if Trump is the nominee. Former President Trump continues to tease a 2024 run ahead of the November midterms in which Democrats and Republicans are fighting a close battle for control of Congress. If Trump does announce a campaign and ultimately cinches the Republican spot, Cheney predicted the party would "shatter." "I think that Donald Trump, he's the only president in American history who refused to guarantee a peaceful transition of power," Cheney said.
Liz Cheney said the January 6 committee won't let Donald Trump turn his testimony "into a circus." The committee officially subpoenaed Trump on Friday, calling for him to sit before the panel by November 14. This isn't going to be, you know, his first debate against Joe Biden and the circus and the food fight that became. She added that the committee has "many, many alternatives that we will consider" if Trump refuses to comply with the subpoena. Cheney added that the panel has information on "Donald Trump's personal and direct role in managing and overseeing and coordinating the sophisticated multi-part plan to overturn the election."
Sen. Bernie Sanders said some right-wing Americans who are racist and homophobic will never be won over. When Sanders ran for president in 2020, he made efforts to court Trump voters. During an interview with host of NBC's "Meet the Press" Chuck Todd, Sanders spoke about appealing to Trump voters. "During 2016 and in 2020, you made a big deal about wanting to court Trump voters. "There are some extreme right-wing voters who are racists, who are sexists, who are homophobes, xenophobes.
Evan McMullin reaffirmed that he wouldn't caucus with either party if elected to the Senate as an Independent. McMullin contrasted his independence with Mike Lee, his Republican general election opponent. Todd presented a scenario of the Senate having 50-49 composition, with McMullin potentially being a deciding vote on the body's leadership. I think that this will give Utah an added value of influence in the Senate that it just doesn't have. Polling in recent months has largely shown a competitive contest between McMullin and Lee in the solidly Republican state.
In an interview with NBC News, Cohen said President Trump only cares about himself. For some reason, we fell into the cult of Donald J. Trump. You've seen what's happening now to Rudy Guiliani. You see what's happening to [John] Eastman. You see what's happening to Sydney Powell, and a multitude of other people," Cohen said, referring to former and current Trump attorneys.

The United States has warned Russia there will be "catastrophic" consequences if Moscow uses nuclear weapons after setbacks in its war in Ukraine. National security adviser Jake Sullivan told NBC News' "Meet the Press" Sunday that the consequences "would be catastrophic if Russia went down the dark road of nuclear weapons use." Putin has made a string of nuclear threats against Ukraine and the West as a whole since he launched his invasion just over seven months ago. Russia has the largest nuclear arsenal in the world with almost 6,000 nuclear warheads and 1,500 of them currently deployed, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, an independent think tank that tracks global stockpiles. It has also triggered an exodus of Russians attempting to flee the draft, clogging border crossings and snapping up available flights.
Rep. Nancy Mace says there's "a lot of pressure" on Republicans to impeach President Biden. On NBC's Meet The Press, Mace said impeachment is being considered by some in the GOP. She told host Chuck Todd that if the party chooses to hold a vote, she believes it will be divisive. The South Carolina congresswoman answered, "there's a lot of pressure on Republicans to have that vote, to put that legislation forward. Kinzinger was referring to Georgia Rep.
