On TikTok, faked audio created by AI of Joe Biden and Donald Trump gaming has become a hit meme. But the ease with voice AI can be used for jokes also shows how easy it is to fake convincing quotes. The Biden Cinematic UniverseOn the @bidenandfriends TikTok account, "Sleepy Joe" plays Minecraft and other video games with his best (and worst) buddies. Other political and celebrity figures pop up in various installments, but the core trio of Trump, Biden, and Obama seems to persist across the lore. "I remember when people thought AI would kill us all, but this is how we use it," commented one TikTok user.

CHICAGO—Mayor Lori Lightfoot lost her re-election bid by failing to garner enough votes to make a runoff election, a stunning fall for a candidate who had won all 50 of the city’s wards four years ago but had sparred with a powerful teachers union and been under fire for her response to rising crime. The Associated Press declared Tuesday night that Paul Vallas , a more moderate Democrat who had won the support of the city’s police union, and Brandon Johnson , a liberal teachers union organizer, secured the two spots in April’s runoff election.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot, whose outsider status and promises to enact sweeping reforms propelled her to office four years ago, is seeking a second term amid a large field of challengers. Ms. Lightfoot, a Democrat who won all 50 wards in the 2019 runoff, saw her popularity plunge as homicides reached generational highs and as Chicago struggled to rebound from the pandemic.
CHICAGO—Some business leaders concerned about crime and corporate departures say they don’t think Mayor Lori Lightfoot is up to the task and are coalescing around one of her eight challengers, Paul Vallas , ahead of the city’s Feb. 28 election. Mr. Vallas, a former Chicago public schools chief and past city budget director, has received enough campaign contributions from law firm partners, investment executives and others to run a competitive campaign.
JB and I are not on speaking terms these days," said Ken Griffin, the billionaire hedge-fund manager, referring to JB Pritzker, the Democratic governor of Illinois. As Florida rolled back pandemic restrictions more quickly than Chicago, even more Citadel employees migrated south. Ken Griffin's hedge fund has had a run of eye-popping returns since 2020. Others worry that it gives Griffin's hedge fund an unfair advantage. Hundreds of Citadel employees, partners, and families gathered at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando Florida.

CHICAGO—Mayor Lori Lightfoot is facing stiff competition from a large field of candidates in her re-election bid as Chicago struggles with public safety concerns and the lingering economic fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic. Ms. Lightfoot, a 60-year-old former federal prosecutor, was the first Black woman and first gay person elected mayor of the nation’s third largest city, winning every city ward in a 2019 runoff against Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle. Now, early polls show the mayor as an underdog in the Feb. 28 election, with the top two vote-getters expected to face off in an April runoff if no candidate wins a majority in the first round.
Jared Polis said Colorado will no longer bus asylum-seekers to New York City and Chicago after the mayors of both cities demanded a halt to the policy. “The majority of migrants have a final destination other than Denver,” Polis' office said in a statement last week. While reversing his decision, Polis also set aside $5 million in state money to help provide assistance to the migrants, Denver officials said Monday. "We respectfully demand that you cease and desist sending migrants to New York City and Chicago." New York City has already taken in more than 38,000 migrants in the last nine months, Adams' office said Monday.

Jared Polis said he would halt busing migrants from Denver to New York City and Chicago after the mayors of those cities argued that their shelters were already overrun. New York Mayor Eric Adams and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot in a letter on Saturday to Mr. Polis argued that “overburdening other cities” isn’t the solution to the burden of the wave of asylum seekers. Mr. Polis said in a statement Saturday that no more buses were scheduled to Chicago and a final charter to New York was slated to be completed Sunday.

TOKYO, Nov 16 (Reuters) - Memory chip maker Micron Technology (MU.O) on Wednesday kicked off mass production of its new high-capacity low-power 1-beta dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chips at its plant in Hiroshima, Japan. The production of Micron's most advanced chip, which can store a third more data than older chips, comes as Japan tries to revive and modernise its once-mighty chip industry. The Japanese government in September offered Micron a 46.5 billion yen ($332 million) to boost production capacity at its plant. In July it gave a 93 billion yen subsidy to rival memory chip makers Kioxia Corp and Western Digital Corp (WDC.O) to help it expand output at their joint factory Japan. The arrival of thousands of migrants in New York, Washington, Chicago and beyond has sent officials in those cities scrambling to establish a system of support services, with mixed success. The Office of Migrant Services in Washington, D.C., will offer urgent medical care and connection to resettlement services. Phillips said migrants have been calling volunteer groups in the city “constantly” with problems, leaving volunteers in rapid-response mode. Mental health services are lackingStill, Enriquez said, there is a major hole in that care: mental health services. Mental health screenings are also part of the initial medical checkups at city health centers, Jochum said.
