Sotheby's this week will put up for sale a collection of six Air Jordan sneakers. Each of the six sneakers was worn by Michael Jordan during an NBA Finals game. Auction house Sotheby's on Tuesday will unveil a collection of six Air Jordan sneakers in Dubai. For perspective, a jersey Jordan wore during the 1998 NBA Finals sold last year for $10.1 million. "This set represents the most valuable and significant collection of Air Jordan sneakers ever brought to market," Sotheby's said, in a listing.

CNN —The Brooklyn Nets have made a terrible start to the NBA season and on Saturday star forward Yuta Watanabe didn’t make matters any easier by comically scoring in the opposite team’s basket. At the Barclays Centre, the Nets went down 125-116 to the Indiana Pacers to go 1-5 for the season. It was the Nets’ fourth straight loss and one coach Steve Nash called a “disaster.”The night started ominously when, in the first quarter, Watanabe accidentally scored for the Pacers. The comical two-pointer cut the Nets’ lead before the Pacers tied at the end of the first quarter. As the Pacers pulled away from the struggling Nets, rookie Bennedict Mathurin scored a career-high 32 points in a team record 23 three-pointers.
CNN —The Golden State Warriors are the most valuable franchise in the NBA, according to Forbes. The Warriors are now worth $7 billion, said Forbes, 25% more than last year. The team generated $765 million in revenue and $206 million operating income during the 2021-2022 season, both the most in NBA history. The Warriors won their fourth NBA championship in eight years in June, led by talisman and face of the franchise Stephen Curry. The Chicago Bulls ($4.1 billion) and the Boston Celtics ($4 billion) complete the top five, with the average NBA franchise is now worth $2.86 billion, 15% more than a year ago.
The NBA has fined Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards $40,000 for making anti-LGBTQ remarks in a video on his Instagram account. The video, apparently from the weekend of Sept. 10, was posted to his Instagram account but soon deleted. The NBA on Tuesday called Edwards' language "offensive and derogatory." In 2011, the Chicago Bulls’ Joakim Noah was fined a similar amount for hurling an anti-gay slur at a fan. “We are disappointed in the language and actions Anthony Edwards displayed on social media,” the team’s president of basketball operations, Tim Connelly, said in a statement.
