My friend and I booked a last-minute vacation to Hilton Head Island, a beach town in South Carolina . Hilton Head Island's beaches were clean and beautiful, and I loved the food scene. As a resident of South Carolina, I considered plenty of places to visit, from Myrtle Beach to Charleston. But in the end, we ultimately settled on Hilton Head Island. Liaw founded the Vegas Tech Summit, a multi-day tech conference promoting Vegas as a burgeoning tech center. It's not the same San Francisco as before. The Bay Area had so much to offer, including a thriving entrepreneurial and tech ecosystem that made very smart people smarter. I don't appreciate it when people turn it into a homelessness issue because San Francisco has had homeless people before and found ways to provide services.

Male Kindergarten Teachers Are Here to Help. Many studies show that older boys benefit from having male teachers. There hasn’t been as much research on the youngest students and their teachers — in large part because there are so few male teachers in early education to begin with. Social-emotional learning has given them vocabulary to express their feelings, said Greg Smedley-Warren, 45, a kindergarten teacher in Nashville. “It’s like unlocking a new market of potential educators.”The male kindergarten teachers said that from their perspective, the fulfillment of the job generally outweighed the negatives.

New York CNN —Red Lobster wants to close several dozen more restaurants following its bankruptcy, and it has identified which ones are in danger of shutting down if the court approves its plan. The chain, which brought affordable shrimp and lobster to middle-class America and grew to become the largest seafood restaurant chain in the world, filed for bankruptcy last month. Red Lobster said that it had more than $1 billion in debt and less than $30 million in cash on hand. Part of its plan is to close some locations of its nearly 600 restaurants in the meantime. CNN —Despite the public thawing in their rivalry this week, Donald Trump and Nikki Haley still have yet to speak, two sources close to the former president told CNN, continuing a stalemate that has lasted since their race ended. One source familiar with the former president’s thinking told CNN that “their relationship remains chilled” in the aftermath of their hard-fought race. Trump all but squashed that idea on Truth Social, posting, “Nikki Haley is not under consideration for the V.P. slot, but I wish her well!”Haley emerged from the 2024 Republican primary as the former president’s last-standing opponent. “When you lose the battle or the war, you generally have to make the outreach, and that’s just the nature of the campaign business,” a Trump adviser previously told CNN.

The Supreme Court’s conservative majority cleared the way today for South Carolina to keep using a congressional map that a lower court had deemed an unconstitutional racial gerrymander. All three liberal justices dissented. The ruling handed a victory to the state’s Republicans by allowing them to maintain a stronghold on a district in Charleston County. The immediate effect will be limited: This year’s elections were already set to take place under the contested map. In dissent, the liberal justices argued that it could become all but impossible to challenge voting maps as racial gerrymanders.

CNN —Boeing whistleblower John Barnett died by suicide, according to a police report released on Friday, bringing to end an investigation of the shocking death of a longtime employee who raised concerns about the airplane manufacturer’s safety and production standards – and who sued the company, claiming Boeing illegally retaliated against him. Barnett, 62, was found dead in a vehicle on March 9 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Charleston, South Carolina. The investigation found that Barnett was shot in the head at close range and the weapon was found in his right hand. “As a quality manager at Boeing, you’re the last line of defense before a defect makes it out to the flying public,” Barnett told the Times. That led the US Justice Department to announce this week that Boeing could face criminal prosecution for its history of safety problems.

The climate crisis impacts Earth — its land, its atmosphere and its bodies of water — and it also profoundly affects the health and behavior of the planet’s inhabitants large and small, including humanity. And CNN Chief Climate Correspondent Bill Weir has a front-row seat to the ever-evolving situation. “Five million people die prematurely every year just to, just from particulate pollution of burning fossil fuels around the world,” Weir said. “It is taking care of water and soil and air… (that) fills those (Maslow) needs in ways that we can’t imagine in our modern, convenient world,” he said. “I just want folks to connect with each other and nature in the best possible ways,” he said.

The obligations of a buyer’s agent to youLegally and ethically, buyer’s agents have six key obligations to you. Obedience: While they can make recommendations, a buyer’s agent must follow your instructions, assuming you’re not asking them to do anything illegal. Such a body may be known as the real estate commission, the board of real estate or department of real estate. Find out, too, if the agent has availability that will work with your schedule, said David Kent, founder of The Real Buyer’s Agent in Charleston, South Carolina. It also may include what commission you will pay the agent if the seller of a home you buy hasn’t agreed to pay both the listing agent and the buyer’s agent, which is traditionally how it’s been done.
