Across the country Tuesday, counties moved toward Trump by a median of 3.1 percentage points compared to the 2020 election. But in the top 10% of counties ranked most difficult for buying a home, the median shift was 4.5 percentage points. In Passaic County, New Jersey, with a population of more than 500,000, voters flipped for Trump by nearly 19 percentage points. Nearby in Pennsylvania, Northampton County — which narrowly tipped red with a shift of 3 percentage points — has a similar story. But not all high-challenge housing counties swung toward Trump.

He was the 1983 NASCAR champion, finished second in the series title race five times, and a three-time winner of the Daytona 500. Allison was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame in 1992 and into the NASCAR Hall of Fame along with Ned Jarrett, Bud Moore, Pearson and Lee Petty. “Though he is best known as one of the winningest drivers in NASCAR Cup Series history, his impact on the sport extends far beyond the record books. But in a statement on Saturday, FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell called the incident "reprehensible." Ron DeSantis said he directed the state's Division of Emergency Management to launch an investigation into "the federal government’s targeted discrimination of Floridians who support Donald Trump." The hurricanes left over 200 people dead in their wake, including in North Carolina and Georgia, and many structures destroyed.

One of the 43 monkeys that escaped from a South Carolina research facility Wednesday night has been "successfully recovered unharmed," officials said Saturday. As of Thursday night, the monkeys had been located in the wooded region surrounding the Alpha Genesis facility, in a rural area on the edge of Yamassee. Police emphasized Saturday there is not a current threat to public health, citing the research facility. Staff members at Alpha Genesis were working to entice them with food as well. Police urged the public to stay away from the area surrounding Alpha Genesis as the monkeys can be easily startled.

“We’re going to be asking everyone who sells drugs, gets caught, to receive the death penalty for their heinous acts,” he added. President Joe Biden had campaigned on passing legislation to eliminate the death penalty at the federal level, but pulled back on that in office. Biden’s aides say he supports death row inmates serving life sentences without probation or parole. CNN —Monkey mayhem continues as 42 primates remain on the loose from a research facility in South Carolina. On Wednesday, 43 rhesus macaque primates escaped from the Alpha Genesis Primate Research Center in Yemassee. The loose primates continue to interact with their encaged counterparts inside the facility. Alpha Genesis CEO Greg Westergaard told police Saturday recovery efforts will continue “for as long as it takes,” the statement said. The Alpha Genesis test facility specializes in nonhuman primate research for the biomedical research community.

A law enforcement source told NBC News that several branches of the FBI have been deployed, including criminal, cyber and counterintelligence agencies. The total bill for ad spending in the 2024 election hit almost $11 billion, a new record and a substantial increase from the $9 billion spent in 2020. That's according to AdImpact, a firm that tracks political ad spending. The total is in line with the firm's 2023 projection that 2024 would see more ad spending than ever before. Overall, the Democratic campaign and pro-Democratic outside groups spent almost $1.8 billion, while the Trump campaign and pro-Republican outside groups spent $1.4 billion. A relatively short list of competitive gubernatorial races this election cycle drew almost $530 million, including races held in 2023.

Police in Yemassee, Beaufort County, confirmed Thursday night that the primates were in the wooded region surrounding the Alpha Genesis facility, in a rural area on the edge of Yamassee. Locals were urged to lock windows and doors and not to interact with the monkeys and instead call 911 immediately upon spotting any of the escaped primates. Alpha Genesis carries out medical research for a range of clients for several conditions, including brain disorders.
