Fewer construction workers means less — and slower — residential construction, which in turn leads to higher home prices, according to a 2023 report from researchers at the University of Utah and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Builders and infrastructure projects are in desperate need of all kinds of construction workers, but especially skilled tradespeople. Simonson said that allowing more immigrants into the country to fill construction jobs is crucial. Making the industry more appealing to womenBoushey pointed out that the share of women in the overall construction industry has climbed. The construction industry is also at a disadvantage because most workers can't do manual labor until they retire.

Some may already be tired of the debate over White Christian nationalism, whose followers blend sexism, racism and hostility to non-White immigrants in a quest to create a White Christian America. But Wallis has been warning people about the dangers of White Christian nationalist beliefs long before the term became popular. You write that White Christian nationalism is not new, and that it’s a form of heresy. This [White Christian nationalism] is an old idea from the Doctrine of Discovery, which says that this country was for people who were White Americans. Sellers are reducing prices in cities with surplus housing inventory, according to Redfin data. As sellers lower prices and builders offer concessions, homebuyers are gaining more power. It means two things for prospective homebuyers: One, more sellers are likely to slash listing prices to attract buyers. To calculate which metros have the highest share of sellers reducing list prices, Redfin analyzed home price data from 85 US metros with populations of at least 750,000. Below are the 10 metros with the largest share of price drops in March, according to Redfin.

Campaign officials are fully aware the Trump trial could dominate news coverage in the weeks to come. Even some occasional critics of Biden’s campaign strategy have not found fault in his approach to the Trump trial. CNN —Millions of salaried workers will soon qualify for overtime pay under a final rule released by the US Department of Labor on Tuesday. The new rule raises the salary threshold under which salaried employees are eligible for overtime in two stages. With new builds, property taxes can change dramatically after purchase because initial rates are often based on estimates. Why property taxes can jump for new buildsWhen lenders qualify someone for a home purchase, they factor in the principal, the interest payment on the mortgage, homeowner's insurance and property taxes. Instead, mortgage lenders will often use an older tax rate from the area or an estimated tax rate to calculate the owner's monthly payment. watch nowInitially, the homeowner will typically pay the estimated property tax rate into escrow. Depending on the local tax assessment cycle, the county office will eventually assess the value of the new house to determine the actual property tax rate.

Nvidia has an estimated 80% of the AI chip market with its graphics processors, known as GPUs, which have been the high-end chip of choice for AI builders over the past year. Intel says the new Gaudi 3 chip is over twice as power-efficient as and can run AI models one-and-a-half times faster than Nvidia's H100 GPU. Intel on Tuesday unveiled its latest artificial intelligence chip, called Gaudi 3, as chipmakers rush to produce semiconductors that can train and deploy big AI models, such as the one underpinning OpenAI's ChatGPT. AMD is also looking to expand and sell more AI chips for servers. Intel is teaming up with other chip and software giants, including Google , Qualcomm and Arm to build open software that isn't proprietary and could enable software companies to easily switch chip providers.

That means that, aside from basic safety guidelines, most of the rules of superyachting are unwritten. Superyachts are expensive to build and expensive to maintain. For a $100 million yacht, that's at least $10 million yearly going to crew, regular maintenance, insurance, fuel, and dockage. So, the most important unspoken rule of superyachting is actually that the only thing better than owning a superyacht is knowing someone else who does.
