Two young boys have died in separate tractor accidents at Halloween hayrides in Tennessee and Minnesota, local officials said. In Minnesota, 13-year-old Alexander Mick, of Rice, died Saturday after he was run over by a tractor-pulled trolley wagon, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. The sheriff’s office received a call around 7:30 p.m. about a young male injured after he was run over at the annual Harvest of Horror Haunted Hayride in the city of St. Augusta. The sheriff’s office did not identify the child, but the Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s Office identified him as 12-year-old Samuel Jessen, NBC affiliate WSMV of Nashville reported. GIZA, Egypt — Even before it opened 12 enormous galleries containing priceless artifacts this week, the Grand Egyptian Museum looked to be making history. Egypt is finally allowing the public to view some of the 700,000 years' worth of antiquities devoted to four eras of history on a plot the size of 80 football fields, a project delayed for nearly two decades by war, an armed uprising and the pandemic. Only a section of the museum covering over 5 million square feet opened Wednesday, with the rest of the facility to be inaugurated when authorities deem the time is right. When it is opened fully, it will be the largest museum dedicated to a single civilization. A hurricane watch and warnings of storm surges up to 15 feet high were issued Tuesday for almost all of Florida's western coastline as a potential tropical storm moves across the Caribbean Sea and towards the Gulf Coast. The hurricane watch extends from Indian Pass in north-west Florida near Panama City, down to Englewood, and includes Tampa Bay. Hurricane and tropical storm watches are now in effect for the entire western coast of the Sunshine State. A hurricane watch means that hurricane conditions are possible, and is typically issued 48 hours before the anticipated onslaught of tropical-storm-force winds and conditions. A pilot died after two single-engine planes collided mid-air on Sunday in Southern California, officials said. The planes, a single-engine Nanchang CJ-6 and a single-engine Yakovlev Yak-52, collided near Lancaster, in northern Los Angeles County, around 1 p.m. PT on Sunday, the Federal Aviation Administration said. One plane had landed near the intersection 47th Street East and Ave F and the other near 60th Street East and Ave G in Lancaster. The Yak-52 plane is a Soviet-era from 1930 that is owned by Fight’s On! The Nanchang CJ-6 is a Chinese military aircraft from the 1960s used for basic training.

BEIRUT — Hospitals in Lebanon are packed with people whose hands and eyes have been dealt serious injuries. The streets of Beirut appeared largely back to normal Thursday, but people NBC News spoke with expressed fear and concern. Relatives mourn 9-year-old Fatima Abdallah, who was killed after hundreds of pagers exploded in a deadly wave across Lebanon. He went on to call it an act of war against Lebanon, but did not specify how or when Hezbollah would retaliate. Although designated a terrorist organization by the U.S. and Israel, Hezbollah is also a political party in Lebanon, embedded in the country’s civilian structures.

Activist investor Politan Capital won the two board seats it was seeking at medical technology company Masimo , defeating founder and CEO Joe Kiani and another director, Chris Chavez, at the shareholder vote. Politan nominees Darlene Solomon and Bill Jellison will join Politan investment chief Quentin Koffey and former Johnson & Johnson executive Michelle Brennan, who obtained board seats in a prior proxy fight last year. The extended proxy fight was marked by a fierce legal battle. The victory for Politan will likely result in the departure of CEO Kiani as well as operating chief Bilal Muhsin. Hanna, based in Washington State, told Business Insider that when she got the "god-inspired" urge to start sprinting, she turned to her husband for help. By 2011, Hanna was fast enough to compete in the Washington State Senior Games, a sports competition for people over 50. The next year, she competed at the National Senior Games, which she has done three more times since. Hanna and her coach, Marcus Chambers, after she won gold at the 2024 Senior Games.
