Even before this historic winter storm emerged, experts warned home heating costs would jump this winter to the highest level in more than a decade. The cost to heat homes is expected to be 35.7% higher this winter than the 2020-2021 winter, the report said. More than 100 million people across the United States are under winter weather and wind chill alerts. But the heating bills will only get more expensive if the winter proves to be colder than expected. New England is especially vulnerable to severe winter weather, in large part because of constraints on pipelines sending natural gas into the region.

There are two main things to know about EV charging: charger types and connector types. These slightly faster chargers – averaging about 25 miles of range per hour – can also be installed in your home. Depending on the size of your battery, a DC fast charger can replenish an empty battery to about 80% in a half hour. Tesla's Superchargers, which only work on Tesla vehicles because of the proprietary connector, are DC fast chargers. But non-Teslas can also plug into a DC fast charger that is not owned by Tesla.

S&P predicts the region will achieve real growth of roughly 3.5% in 2023, while Europe and the U.S. will likely face recession. The firm trimmed its growth forecast for global real GDP by 0.6 percentage point from last month's forecast of 2% — and now expects to see 1.4% growth in 2023. That's a steep decline from 5.9% global growth in 2021 and even slower than the 2.8% growth S&P expects for 2022. "With moderate growth in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa, the world economy can avoid a downturn, but growth will be minimal," said Sara Johnson, executive director of economic research, S&P Global Market Intelligence.
