BERLIN, Nov 14 (Reuters) - Global carmaker Stellantis (STLA.MI) has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with German chipmaker Infineon (IFXGn.DE) for a multi-year supply of silicon carbide semiconductors, Infineon said in a statement on Monday. According to the agreement, Infineon will reserve production capacity and supply the power semiconductors directly to Stellantis suppliers in the second half of the 2020s. Well over 1 billion euros' ($1.03 billion) worth of chips could be involved, said Infineon, adding that the chips would be meant for electric vehicles under the Stellantis brands. Chip shortages over the past couple of years have forced global automakers to scrap production plans for millions of cars. Nov 9 (Reuters) - Two shareholders that together own more than 5% of France's Orpea (ORP.PA) have called for a shareholder meeting at the beleaguered care homes group as they try to rally opposition to its planned debt restructuring plan. "An unprecedented shareholder ruin is now emerging", family-owned Mat Immo Beaune and investment group Nextstone said in a letter sent to Orpea on Tuesday and reviewed by Reuters. Orpea said in June an independent audit had found evidence of financial wrongdoing, and in October warned of asset impairments and said it had requested talks with creditors. French media outlet l'Agefi on Monday reported ESG-driven fund Mirova had sold its 4% stake in Orpea. Shares in Orpea, which have lost 90% of their value this year, were down 2% at around 1100 GMT.
MOSCOW, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Russia's government has submitted a draft law to parliament that would extend the central bank's right to sell bailed-out lender Otkritie to Russia's no. 2 bank VTB (VTBR.MM) without a tender for another year. The central bank and Otkritie did not immediately respond to a request to comment. The central bank bailed out Otkritie, once Russia's largest private lender, in 2017 as part of a years-long campaign to clean up Russia's banking sector. Following the bail-out and an asset review, the central bank had been looking to offload Otkritie, with Italy's UniCredit rumoured as a suitor for the bank.
BERLIN, Nov 9 (Reuters) - The German government will block a prospective Chinese takeover of the German semiconductor firm ERS Electronic due to security concerns, the Handelsblatt newspaper said on Wednesday, citing government sources. ERS Electronic declined comment. It was not immediately clear which Chinese company was interested in buying the small German firm, which is based in the southern state of Bavaria. But the German government will likely block the Chinese takeover of Elmos' (ELGG.DE) chip factory on security grounds. LEIPZIG, Oct 21 (Reuters) - BMW (BMWG.DE) production chief Milan Nedeljkovic expects stabilising supply chains to lead to a clear improvement in profitability next year, he said in an interview at the carmaker's Leipzig plant in Germany. From a production perspective, Nedeljkovic said he did not expect margins to fall. Europe is falling behind the United States in its ambitions to become more independent in semiconductor supply, the production chief added, with both expressing the same intention but less tangible action from Europe. But with Europe's energy market and supply chain situation uncertain, Nedeljkovic was hesitant to pin down forecasts for next year's output. REUTERS/Fabian Bimmer/File PhotoBERLIN, Sept 23 (Reuters) - Daimler Truck (DTGGe.DE) has begun producing Mercedes-Benz branded trucks in China, with the first vehicles rolling off production lines at its joint plant with China's Foton Motor Co (600166.SS) in Beijing on Friday, the truck and bus maker said. China is the world's biggest market for heavy trucks, with around 1.5 million units sold in 2021 - more than in the U.S., Japan and Europe combined, according to data from German car association VDA. Daimler Truck has so far only produced the joint venture's brand, Auman, in China, while selling Mercedes-Benz trucks imported from Germany at a higher price. A document seen by Reuters in 2020 on plans for the revamp of the joint plant to begin heavy truck production said the target was to produce 50,000 Actros trucks a year.
Martin Daum, head of Daimler Trucks and Buses gestures during the annual results news conference in Stuttgart, Germany, February 11, 2020. REUTERS/Andreas GebertHANNOVER, Germany, Sept 19 (Reuters) - Daimler Truck's (DTGGe.DE) deliveries could have been higher by a "five-digit figure" in 2021 and 2022 if it had not faced supply chain problems, its chief executive Martin Daum told Reuters. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com RegisterThe company sold 120,961 units in the second quarter of 2022, up 4% from the same period last year. Daum said Europe, and Germany in particular, was lagging on building battery production, with most still coming from Asia. This could hold back the country's ambitions to build batteries, a highly energy-intensive process, Daum said.
Taste that rich filling for evidence of the Arab influence that infuses Sicilian cuisine: The candied citrus that often flavors the creamy interior remains beloved throughout the Middle East. In the 1990s, the cake became a menu star as a lava cake or molten chocolate cake. A soft, flaky dough is shaped into a plump half-moon that barely contains the sweet filling, then topped with a light blanket of powdered sugar. Variations on medovik differ widely, but the most popular takes incorporate one of two very Russian ingredients into the sweet filling.
