again after he flashed an object that looked like a gun in a carefree manner during an Instagram Live video posted over the weekend. The Memphis Grizzlies said in a statement that they had suspended Morant from all team activities pending the league’s review. In March, the league suspended Morant for eight games after he was seen holding a gun while dancing at a nightclub near Denver. The Instagram Live video was posted early on March 4, when, the N.B.A. said, Morant had been “in an intoxicated state.” Morant soon left the team and checked into a facility in Florida for counseling.
CNN —Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant has been suspended from team activities after an Instagram Live video appearing to show him flashing a gun while in a vehicle with others circulated on social media Sunday, just two months after the athlete was suspended over a similar video. Morant is suspended from all team activities “pending League review,” the Grizzlies announced on Twitter, adding the team had no further comment. CNN has reached out to Morant’s representative, the Grizzlies, and the NBA for comment. In March, the NBA suspended Morant for eight games without pay for “conduct detrimental to the league” after he was seen in another Instagram Live video holding a gun at a nightclub in Glendale, Colorado, a suburb of Denver. The investigation also did not find that Morant possessed the gun while traveling with the team or in any NBA facility.”Glendale police did not press charges against Morant.
“Quite frankly,” Harden said, “today was do or die.”The 76ers have been a staple of the N.B.A. playoffs over the past six seasons, making five appearances in the conference semifinals. The last time they made the conference finals was in 2001, when Allen Iverson led them past the Milwaukee Bucks and into the N.B.A. The challenge for the 76ers, of course, is that the Process was never about winning individual honors, though those are nice. The mandate now, on players like Embiid and Harden, but also on Rivers and Daryl Morey, the team’s president of basketball operations, is to vie for a championship.
Commissioner Adam Silver on Tuesday defended the unusual disciplinary approach for forward Miles Bridges, who was suspended for 30 games for domestic violence but will miss just 10 games in which he is eligible to play. He pleaded no contest to a felony domestic violence charge in November, but it wasn’t until April 14, after a league investigation, that the N.B.A. announced his punishment: a 30-game suspension, with credit for 20 games because he did not play this season. On Tuesday, Silver said the league and Bridges had a “mutual agreement” that he would not play during the 2022-23 season — though Silver was careful to say that Bridges was not suspended. Silver said crediting Bridges for 20 games toward the penalty seemed like the right thing to do because he missed a year of income and N.B.A.
3M and Aearo say the earplug litigation has spiraled out of control. But attorney Adam Silverstein, who represents veterans suing 3M over hearing loss, said at a court hearing in Indianapolis that filing for bankruptcy, like "pulling a fire alarm," should be reserved for urgent threats. Aearo was not in need of emergency rescue, because it had filed for bankruptcy solely as "a strategic alternative to managing 3M's litigation," Silverstein said. Aearo, which made the combat arms earplugs, filed for bankruptcy last July, with 3M pledging $1 billion to fund its liabilities stemming from the lawsuits that accuse both Aearo and 3M of misrepresenting the earplugs' effectiveness, leading to hearing damage. Aearo should be allowed to proactively resolve the growing problem of earplug lawsuits through a bankruptcy settlement, Husnick said.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver can turn to an upcoming round of media-rights negotiations now that a new collective bargaining agreewment with players is in place. The NBA and the National Basketball Players Association agreed in principle early Saturday to a new collective bargaining agreement, the parties said, giving the league a long period of assured labor stability as it heads into a new round of media rights deals on the horizon. The seven-year agreement—which still needs to be ratified by players and team governors—will go into effect at the start of the 2023-24 season, according to people familiar with the negotiations. It includes a mutual opt-out after its sixth year and includes language to try to both curb the trend of top players missing games and limit the spending of the NBA’s richest teams.

The NBA suspended Memphis Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant for eight games on Monday, following an investigation of a video in which Morant streamed himself posing with a handgun at Denver-area strip club Shotgun Willie’s. The suspension without pay will include the five games Morant has already missed since the March 4 incident, a stretch during which Morant reportedly attended a counseling program in Florida and met with NBA commissioner Adam Silver . He can return to play March 20, the league said Wednesday.
A clip that purportedly shows NBA Commissioner Adam Silver announcing the suspension of Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant because of “thuggish and gangster activities” has been altered and was likely meant as satire. The last time the NBA’s all-time scoring record changed hands was a little less than four decades ago, when Los Angeles Lakers center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar slung a skyhook over the Utah Jazz. Abdul-Jabbar’s 17th point of the night gave him the 31,421st of his career, moving him two past Wilt Chamberlain. On Tuesday night in Los Angeles, with his 36th point against the Oklahoma City Thunder, LeBron James tallied the 38,388th of his own career and edged past Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s new scoring king. The historic bucket came on a step-back jump shot near the end of the third quarter as Abdul-Jabbar looked on. James raised his arms in celebration, and his family joined him on the floor for a mid-game ceremony alongside Abdul-Jabbar and NBA commissioner Adam Silver.

Nov 12 (Reuters) - Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving's team-imposed, minimum five-game suspension for promoting an anti-Semitic documentary will extend to a sixth game, according to an ESPN report on Saturday. The Nets' game on Saturday at the Los Angeles Clippers marked the fifth contest of the suspension imposed on Irving but head coach Jacque Vaughn said in the report he would not be reinstated for Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. "I do know (Irving's) not available (on Sunday)," Vaughn said before Saturday's game, according to the report. Nov 10 (Reuters) - NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said he met with Kyrie Irving earlier this week and that he did not believe the Brooklyn Nets guard was anti-Semitic, Yahoo Sports reported on Thursday. Irving was heavily criticized for promoting a film that the seven-time All-Star has since said contained "false anti-Semitic statements". The Nets suspended him for at least five games after he "refused to unequivocally say he has no anti-Semitic beliefs". Silver added: "Whether or not he is anti-Semitic is not relevant to the damage caused by the posting of hateful content." If he serves a five-game suspension, Irving would be available to play Nov. 13 against the Lakers in Los Angeles.
CNN —NBA commissioner Adam Silver believes that suspended Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving is not antisemitic following a meeting between the two earlier in the week, the commissioner told the New York Times. Silver, who is Jewish, told the Times that the two had “a direct and candid conversation” at the league’s headquarters in New York. While the NBA did not hand down its own suspension to Irving, Silver said the punishment “got to the right outcome,” acknowledging the criticism the league faced for not suspending Irving sooner. Silver told the audience that Amazon bore some of the responsibility for having the film on its platform. Silver said the Nets along with the league will consult to decide when Irving can return from suspension.
