A hurricane watch and warnings of storm surges up to 15 feet high were issued Tuesday for almost all of Florida's western coastline as a potential tropical storm moves across the Caribbean Sea and towards the Gulf Coast. LOS ANGELES — When Simone Biles won her first world championship in 2013, her agent at the time asked her a seminal question: What did she hope to accomplish in the sport of gymnastics? Olympic gold medals may have come up, but one of the wish list items Biles remembers most fondly was a long-held desire to have her own tour across the U.S.Like many of her goals, it has come to fruition in spectacular fashion. In the decade since she first pondered her aspirations in the sport, Biles has won 11 Olympic medals and 30 world championship medals, making her the most decorated gymnast in history. After her tour de force showing at the Paris Olympics this summer, she is making the rounds to 30 American cities to connect and celebrate with the fans who cheered her to greatness from home. It’s called the Gold Over America Tour, which can be abbreviated, appropriately, as “GOAT.”“It’s really about sharing that love and passion for the sport with the audience,” Biles said backstage before Friday’s Los Angeles show.

CNN —A diamond necklace that has been worn at two British coronations, and is thought to have stones from the infamous necklace at the heart of a Marie-Antoinette scandal, is expected to fetch up to $2.8 million at auction. Sotheby'sThe piece consists of three rows of diamonds that trail on either side into a diamond tassel. A glittering scandalSome of the diamonds from the necklace may have come from the piece at the heart of the “Affair of the Diamond Necklace” scandal, according to the auction house. The necklace, in the hands of a trickster, had in the meantime actually been broken up and sold in London.

But Moscow doesn't appear ready to acknowledge that it's not in a financial position to cut Europe off from its natural gas exports completely. Russia's oil and gas revenues hit 8.82 trillion rubles, or $94.6 billion, in 2023. That's 24% lower than the 11.6 trillion rubles it recorded in 2022, when revenues jumped due to oil price volatility. In 2021, Russia's oil and gas sales revenue stood at 9 trillion rubles. To be sure, other geopolitical factors could also be playing into Russia's decision to keep natural gas exports moving into Europe.
