An estimated 40,000 bees were taken from the walls of a farmhouse at Smiling Hill Farm in Westbrook, Maine, according to CNN affiliate WMTW. The bees were removed from a Maine farmhouse this week. Instead of killing the bees, the Knight family wanted to save the colony living in the farmhouse, which needs renovation, so they requested MacDonald’s services, WMTW reported. The Knight family said they plan to maintain the outdoor hive and the bees will be later relocated elsewhere on the farm, according to WMTW.

CNN —A World War II airman who died in 1943 after his aircraft went down over Romania was recently honored at an American cemetery abroad, according to the American Battle Monuments Commission. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced last month Samoski was accounted for, according to a news release from the agency. American Graves Registration Command, which tracked down fallen American personnel, disinterred all American remains from the cemetery after the war, according to the agency. The remains of more than 80 unknowns who could not be identified were recovered and interred at two cemeteries in Belgium. A luxury hotel in Paris has responded after Serena Williams publicly criticized it for refusing service to her and her kids during the 2024 Olympics. On Monday, the tennis star shared a photo of The Peninsula Hotel with a caption describing her experience. "Yikes @peninsulaparis I've been denied access to rooftop to eat in an empty restaurant of nicer places but never with my kids," Williams wrote. "Dear Mrs. Williams, Please accept our deepest apologies for the disappointment you encountered tonight," the hotel said in a reply to Williams' post. One comment pointed out that the rooftop restaurant did not even take reservations, according to the Peninsula's website.

CNN —A 72-year-old Montana man shot and killed a grizzly bear after it attacked him while he was alone picking huckleberries, according to the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks. The man was hospitalized after the encounter, which happened Thursday evening near Columbia Falls on Flathead National Forest lands, the agency said in a news release. FWP’s wardens and bear specialists referred to the incident as a “surprise defensive encounter.”The man reportedly shot the bear with a handgun after the adult female grizzly charged him, the release stated. Grizzly bears, which live in the US states of Montana, Alaska, Idaho, Wyoming and Washington, feed on berries as part of their diet, according to the North American Bear Center. Bear attacks are rare, with most bears usually interested in protecting their space, food or cubs, according to the National Park Service.
