CNN —Most likely voters in six key battleground states express at least some confidence in their state’s election process, according to recent CNN polling conducted by SSRS. But far fewer of them have high confidence in the process, with that mistrust driven largely by voters who support former President Donald Trump. And sizable shares of Trump voters lack even modest confidence in the system. Harris supporters’ expressions of confidence in the election process come amid a campaign that many of her backers view as a referendum on democracy itself. By contrast, only 9% of Trump supporters, on average, say the same.

CNN —Guns continue to be the leading cause of death for US children and teens since surpassing car accidents in 2020. That’s about five children lost for every 100,000 children in the United States. In no other comparable country are firearms within the top four causes of mortality among children, according to a KFF analysis. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the share of Americans who were absent from work because of child care difficulties matched the all-time record for August. At the same time, employment in child care services has not been nearly enough to match the demand, according to Julia Pollak, chief economist at ZipRecruiter, who highlighted the statistic in a note following Friday’s job report. ☆ Dell attempts to sell cybersecurity firm SecureWorks again, sources tell Reuters

Personal computer maker Dell Technologies is again exploring a possible sale of SecureWorks , after unsuccessful earlier attempts to find a buyer for the U.S. cybersecurity firm, according to people familiar with the matter. Dell, which has shed many non-core assets in recent years, owns 79.2% of SecureWorks by holding all of the company's class B shares, according to recent filings. Dell explored a sale of SecureWorks in 2019, part of an effort to trim Dell's debt pile, Reuters reported at the time. Dell acquired SecureWorks for $612 million in 2011, before listing its shares through an initial public offering in New York in 2016. The company's shares have risen by about 46% so far this year, outperforming an 18% rise in the S&P 500 index.
