Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg talked to Verge about the "huge need" for AI versions of celebrities. AdvertisementAdvertisementMeta CEO Mark Zuckerberg thinks there's a "huge need" for AI versions of celebrities for fans to interact with. However, Zuckerberg said AI versions of celebrities could be "more of a 'next year' thing" due to brand safety concerns — as celebrities would want to be certain their image won't be used to make problematic statements. However, not everybody is as optimistic as Zuckerberg and Grimes about the potential of AI in the media. Zuckerberg and Meta did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Insider, sent outside regular business hours.

For Verizon CEO Hans Vestberg, self-reflection is serious business. Vestberg started the routine in 2009 after becoming CEO of Swedish telecommunications company Ericsson, and he's done it "every day" since, he said. Each morning, Vestberg ranks his mood "from 1 to 10," he said, helping him get into the "right mood and right energy" to do his job. Jerry Colonna, an executive coach sometimes known as the "CEO whisperer," has a similar routine called "radical self-inquiry" that he says helps him make better decisions. "Spend a few minutes each day, but not the entire day, asking questions like how am I really feeling?

Many of the formal speeches delivered before the green stone in the General Assembly could have been performed straight to camera, with few other people in the room (and in 2020, they were). The General Assembly, she said, actually “overshadows what the U.N. does well." In-person relations are as important, if not more so, for non-governmental organizations with stakes in the outcomes, attendees said. Many at the General Assembly, and those observing it closely from afar, declined to discuss the substance of negotiations that may never ultimately come to fruition. But the General Assembly week “provides a critical mass that allows you to do all the things that you would prefer to do in person,” Rathke said.

Seven years after launching to space, the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft flew by Earth Sunday to deliver the pristine sample from the near-Earth asteroid Bennu. The sample capsule, about the size of a large truck tire, and its main parachute can be seen after landing in the Utah desert. What the sample may revealDetails about the sample will be revealed through a NASA broadcast from Johnson Space Center on October 11. If a government shutdown occurs, “it will not endanger the curation and safe handling of the asteroid sample,” said Lori Glaze, director for NASA’s Planetary Sciences Division. “Scientists believe that the asteroid Bennu is representative of the solar system’s own oldest materials forged in large dying stars and supernova explosions,” Glaze said.

Senior State Department officials spoke to CNN about what happened on the condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive details. The Iranians even threatened not to include all five of the Americans in the release unless the US did more, the officials told CNN. “We held our line and the Iranians backed down and we made it work,” a senior State Department official said. But the Qatari officials, in a smooth diplomatic maneuver, countered that they would be offended if everyone did not eat while on board the Qatari plane and an agonizing final delay was avoided. ET, the US plane carrying the seven Americans, Carstens, Paley and other US officials departed Doha en route to the US.

This means the customer experience starts earlier than ever before — and how companies engage them in this first point of contact is crucial. That's where purpose-built AI solutions help: AI that is specifically designed and developed for a particular application or task. The key to empowering customer self-service is a customer experience built around removing friction in their journey. If a sales agent can't efficiently solve the customer query, the customer experience suffers — no matter how friendly or approachable that sales agent may be. Creating an extraordinary customer experience across touchpointsEvery customer interaction matters, so earning their loyalty and trust is paramount to business success.

CNN —Investors who missed out on this year’s unexpected rally seem to be dipping their toes back into the US stock market. That suggests that investors who watched equities steadily climb higher this year are starting to take their cash off the sidelines and put it into the stock market, some investors say. That’s caused some investors to come down with a classic case of fear-of-missing-out, says Saira Malik, chief investment officer at Nuveen. The data-dependent central bank held rates steady on Wednesday and signaled that it could hike rates once more this year. Still, bond yields rose to their highest level since 2007 this week, as investors bet that the central bank will keep rates higher for longer.

A health tech startup using AI to make patient care more accurate and efficient just secured a $60 million Series B round co-led by Prosus Ventures and Atomico. Copenhagen-based Corti, founded in 2016, has developed an AI assistant that analyzes patient consultations in real-time and reduces administrative work. Its widget sits on a doctor or nurse's computer, records conversations, and analyses them in real-time to support the medical practitioner's decision-making. Cleve said healthcare had become "very fragmented" and that there was pressure from "personnel deficits everywhere" with burnout becoming endemic. It will also keep investing in research and development, improving medical practitioners' workflows, and generative AI.
