A day after an elevated portion of Interstate 95 collapsed in northeast Philadelphia, buckling after a tanker truck caught fire, the weekday rush hour began Monday with dread and preparation. “It’s looking like more than an hour on a typical 40-minute commute,” said John Heinrich, an electrician in northeast Philadelphia, who usually takes I-95 to get to his job site across the city. The damaged stretch in Philadelphia is used by about 160,000 vehicles a day, officials said. All of these vehicles now have to find alternate routes, and a normal commute is a long way off. Federal, state and local officials are looking into the cause of the fire and the collapse of the elevated highway section, which officials said caused no injuries or deaths.

June 7 (Reuters) - Campbell Soup (CPB.N) beat Wall Street estimates for third-quarter profit on Wednesday and maintained its annual forecasts, as the maker of Pepperidge Farm cookies benefited from multiple rounds of price increases. Peer J M Smucker (SJM.N) had forecast a smaller-than-expected decline in annual sales on the back of higher prices and steady demand for its products. The company maintained its annual net sales forecast for an 8.5% to 10% rise and adjusted profit expectations of $2.95 to $3.00 per share. Campbell's third-quarter gross profit margin was 30%, compared with 31.2% a year earlier, squeezed by still-high prices of commodities and freight as well as higher marketing expenses. “Nones” — the term of art for those who say they have no particular religious affiliation — is an unsatisfying label. I’m not the first to notice that it sounds like “nuns” when said aloud, and that, as a result, it can confuse people who aren’t steeped in sociological jargon. But more crucially, “nones” obscures the diversity of backgrounds and beliefs among the millions of Americans who fall into this very broad category. Previously, nones had been defined by what they aren’t — adherents to a religious tradition — rather than who they are or what they believe. “They haven’t really thought about truth, meaning, etc.,” he said.

Air India, which is revamping itself under new owner Tata Group, has been rapidly growing its international presence with new non-stop flights to Europe and the United States. Being able to use Russian airspace has come as a boon as it looks to capture a bigger share of the market. IATA Director General Willie Walsh called for an opening up of Russian airspace. "What we would like to see is everybody using Russian airspace. But airlines that can are unlikely to stop using Russian airspace after this diversion, said James Halstead, managing partner at Aviation Strategy.

CEO of Campbell Soup Mark Clouse told CNBC's Jim Cramer on Wednesday that despite his company's mixed earnings report, he is confident that Campbell's condensed products — especially the brand's staples like chicken noodle and tomato — are timelessly profitable. Clouse said Campbell's soup sales have been better than before the pandemic, especially among millennial clientele, many of whom are getting older and starting families. Even as more people start to dine outside the home post-Covid regulations, Clouse said demand for condensed canned soup remains strong. But he added that even Campbell's leadership had questioned the relevancy of condensed soup for younger consumers. Alongside its namesake soup products, Campbell also owns several well-known food and snack lines, including Pepperidge Farm, Snyder's of Hanover, Lance, V8 and Prego.

ISTANBUL, June 6 (Reuters) - An Air India plane flying from Delhi to San Francisco was forced to divert and land at an airport in Russia's Far East after it developed a technical issue with one of its engines, the airline said on Tuesday. The 216 passengers and 16 crew onboard were being offered support on the ground and accommodated in local hotels for the night, Air India said. Air India said it could not share any passenger details. GE Aerospace said it was aware of the diversion and working with Air India to resolve the issue. However, Air India and some Gulf-based, Chinese and African carriers continue to fly over Russia, making flying times shorter and American rivals uncompetitive.
