CVS Health 's board has engaged advisors to conduct a strategic review of its business, according to people familiar with the matter, as the company contends with potential activist pressure and a severely depressed stock price. The review has been ongoing for some time, said the people, but there is no certainty on what actions, if any, the company will take. CVS management, including CEO Karen Lynch, met with major shareholder Glenview Capital Monday to discuss the company's lagging prospects and Glenview's plans to revive the stock, CNBC previously reported. In a statement, CVS spokesman David Whitrap told CNBC: "CVS Health's management team and Board of Directors are continually exploring ways to create shareholder value. CVS shares rose around 2.5% in after-hours trading Monday on the news, which was first reported by Reuters.

Matt Polk, a representative for Creel, told CNN that the actor’s passing was confirmed by Creel’s partner Alex Temple Ward. “As an award-winning Broadway star, he brought irrepressible verve, passion, and boundless energy to his onstage roles while devoting his offstage time to advocacy and community-building,” an obituary provided by Polk stated. Creel played the role of Dr. Pomatter in Sara Bareilles’ “Waitress” in the 2019 Broadway production and reprised the role on London’s West End in 2020. The iShares MSCI China ETF (MCHI) was up about 22% on the month, while the KraneSharesCSI China Internet ETF (KWEB) was up more than 32%. Other top performers include the Global X MSCI China Consumer Discretionary ETF (CHIQ) and the Invesco Golden Dragon China ETF (PGJ) , with September gains of roughly 32% and 30%, respectively. The MSCI China Index's total annualized return during that period is under 1%. The average here is a gain of +78% over 176 trading days vs. a decline of -42% over 165 trading days," the note continued.

The Palisades nuclear plant in Michigan has closed a $1.5 billion loan to support the first reactor restart in U.S. history, the Department of Energy announced Monday. Palisades' owner, Holtec International, hopes to restart the plant in the fourth quarter of 2025, subject to approval by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Demand for nuclear power is growing as the U.S. seeks carbon-free energy to meet rising electricity demand while meeting its climate goals. In the case of Palisades, the power is spoken for by Wolverine Power Cooperative, a nonprofit that provides electricity to rural communities in Michigan. Palisades will support 600 jobs in Covert Township near Lake Michigan and provide enough power for 800,000 homes, Turk said.

A poll released last week from AAPI Data, a data analytics firm that focuses on Asian Americans, found that 66% of Asian American voters plan to support Harris and 28% intend to back Trump. The same survey found that 62% of Asian American voters say they have a favorable opinion of Harris, compared with 35% who hold an unfavorable view. Republican officials declined to elaborate on efforts to win over Asian American voters. The Harris campaign has three full-time staffers at the national headquarters dedicated to engaging Asian American voters, a spokeswoman said, with additional staff being deployed to Georgia and other battleground states. As she presided over a virtual phone bank from her kitchen one night last week, she said she believed Asian American voters could make the difference in her Southern battleground state.

CNN —A New Mexico judge on Monday denied “Rust” armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed’s request for new trial and upheld her involuntary manslaughter conviction for the 2021 death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Gutierrez Reed, who as armorer was in charge of firearms on the movie set, was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in March. Her defense attorney argued she was scapegoated for the safety failures of film set management and other crew members. CNN —Radio network Audacy on Monday shared that it completed its financial restructuring, successfully reducing its approximately $1.9 billion of funded debt by 80%, to $350 million. The radio giant had filed when it disclosed it was entering a restructuring agreement to reduce debt. Audacy is the second largest radio company in the United States behind iHeartMedia and ahead of Cumulus. Audacy, an internet radio conglomerate, operates hundreds of music, news and sports radio stations. The company, founded in 1968 as Entercom Communications, merged with CBS Radio in 2017, before rebranding as Audacy in 2021.
