The DSCC has pledged a “multimillion" dollar effort to help Mucarsel-Powell, Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried announced Monday in a call with reporters. Regardless of whatever national money comes for Democrats, Scott will no doubt hold his long-running huge cash advantage. “It's no surprise that polling shows this race tied — Floridians know that Rick Scott is far too extreme for our state," Mucarsel-Powell said. "For 14 years Rick Scott has ruthlessly attacked our freedoms, hard-earned benefits and economic opportunities. “National Democrats can flirt with spending in Florida if they want and risk losing incumbent races,” he said.

There are two competing visions for the future of the AI business, according to Marc Andreessen. Instead, it's one of the most fundamental (and arguably surreal) questions facing the AI industry today, according to legendary investor Marc Andreessen. In the first vision, AI startups are in a winner-takes-all race. These AI models, such as Meta's Llama offerings, are freely available for almost anyone to use, while OpenAI sells access to propriety, closed models. But if downloadable, open-source models pull all prices down to the "cost of production," then Andreessen's first vision — of "infinite profits" — starts to appear a little less likely.

British financial technology firm Revolut on Thursday criticized Facebook parent company Meta over its approach to tackling fraud, saying the U.S. tech giant should directly compensate people who fall victim to scams via its social media platforms. In a statement, Woody Malouf, Revolut's head of financial crime, said that Meta's plans to tackle financial fraud on its platforms amount to "baby steps, when what the industry really needs is giant leaps forward." "These platforms share no responsibility in reimbursing victims, and so they have no incentive to do anything about it. Britain's Payments System Regulator had previously recommended a £415,000 maximum compensation amount for fraud victims, but backed down following backlash from banks and payment firms. The fintech firm published a report Thursday alleging that 62% of user-reported fraud on its online banking platform originated from Meta, down from 64% last year.

The United States was sending more troops to Vietnam, and Mr. Hunter had recently found out he was one of them. During the session in her apartment, Ms. Neel outlined Mr. Hunter’s body, his hands, his legs and the chair on the five-foot-tall canvas. Mr. Als views these gestural marks outlining his legs, his jacket, his hand as a kind of memory of Mr. Hunter. But they could not locate Mr. Hunter or firmly establish his fate, only that he probably did not die in the Vietnam War. And she saved it and loved that painting as much as any.”The painting was kind of a bittersweet breakthrough for Ms. Neel, Ms. Baum said.

OpenAI's chief product officer isn't worried that the rise of open-source will cause the second. In the first vision, AI startups are in a winner-takes-all race. AdvertisementOn Wednesday, OpenAI chief product officer Kevin Weil took to the stage, where Anyscale cofounder Robert Nishihara asked him what open-source models mean for OpenAI's business. These AI models, such as Meta's Llama offerings, are freely available for almost anyone to use, while OpenAI sells access to propriety, closed models. Amazon's Rufus AI chatbot answers questions about products and recommends items. The new chatbot illustrates Amazon's complicated relationship with copycat items: The company forbids selling counterfeit or illegally replicated products on its platform. Amazon has warehouses full of products that don't have brand names that people would immediately recognize but might be similar to those brands' products. In theory, Rufus should be able to help — AI should help people compare similar items and answer questions about them. For now, Amazon's Rufus probably won't.

At least 125 places from the West Coast to the Rockies have tied or broken all-time October heat records since the month began. It’s another reminder that extreme heat is no longer confined to the summer as the world warms due to fossil fuel pollution. “If we continue to warm the plant by burning fossil fuels, late-season heat waves like this will become much more common.”California has been at the epicenter of the extreme heat. The record-breaking heat began before the calendar flipped to October. Phoenix could reach two consecutive weeks of record-breaking heat as it remains stuck in it into at least midweek.

Blueland CEO Sarah Paiji Yoo says she couldn't do her job without ditching a habit that hindered her first startup: trying too hard to get everything done. Paiji Yoo co-founded Blueland, which makes eco-friendly cleaning and personal care products, in 2019. That company, founded in 2011, was acquired in 2013 by PriceGrabber for an undisclosed sum — and in those two short years, Paiji Yoo found herself gravely overworked, she says. "With my first startup, I was spinning my wheels along," Paiji Yoo, 40, tells CNBC Make It. Limited money, employees, time and resources means there's more to get gone, says Paiji Yoo.

As for home run items, don't expect to find them daily but, 'they are out there.' AdvertisementBuying and reselling items can be an effective way to bring in extra cash — and can even be your ticket to financial independence. Richard S., who prefers not to share his last name for privacy reasons, started reselling items from his closet on eBay after losing his job in 2008. I didn't sell the Nike SB until maybe six months ago because I didn't understand what a Nike SB really was. In the reselling business, "it doesn't matter what I think is cool," said Richard.

But investing in the stock market should be boring rather than exciting. While some hands-on traders approach betting on the stock market similarly to betting money on sports, the truth is they should have very little in common. Compared to sports betting, investing in the stock market should be "non-adrenaline focused," Egan said. While an explosion of confetti might make trading stocks more entertaining, investing in the stock market should be boring. Historically, the average stock market return is about 10% each year.

Before this week's downside price gap, it's worth noting that Nike was testing a major resistance level into last week. To add to this "confluence of resistance," we can also see the 200-day moving average looming large, currently sitting just above $91. The weekly chart can provide some additional context as to what the recent upswing means relative to the long-term trend for Nike. The long-term trend has been decidedly negative for NKE, with price remaining below the 150-week moving average since Q2 2022. Nike also sits below a downward-sloping 40-week moving average, which is essentially the same as the 200-day moving average on the daily chart.

Hard seltzers, spiked seltzers, and their ilk have been marketed as lighter than traditional alcoholic beverages. In the 2010s, the hard seltzers started to pop up, with names like White Claw and Truly, both of which launched in 2016. Advertisement"During the pandemic, hard seltzers really blew up, and I think hard seltzers are one of those ones that were perceived as a little bit of a better-for-you option," said Kaleigh Theriault, an associate director of beverage-alcohol thought leadership at NIQ, a market research firm. The market got saturated, and people started to realize there could be a lot more to canned alcohol than beer and hard seltzers. "So companies are having to innovate more and more, and that has led to some higher-ABV canned cocktails."

JuvenescenceFasting, low-carb, high-fat diets like keto, and drinking ketone esters can all prompt ketones to circulate in a person's blood. Ketone ester drinks don't require the liver to convert fat into ketones, which is what happens with fasting and the keto diet. "If you were wanting to lose weight, you want to be burning your own fat and turning it into ketones," Stubbs said. Ketone drinks don't do that. But she also says that any eventual geriatric recommendation for ketone esters isn't likely to be one-size-fits-all.

I spent some time alone after things ended, but by the end of 2012, I was ready to re-embrace online dating. Within a few years, my fellow millennials and I were reportedly spending 10 hours a week on dating apps. "Dating apps are designed to be a miserable experience," Stephanie Rodgers, the founder of the forthcoming dating app Verb, said. Increasingly, it feels like dating apps make things more monotonous and cumbersome to incentivize us to pay for upgrades. And while dating apps' cost in terms of harassment, threats, and violence is paid disproportionately by women, its financial cost is disproportionately paid by men.
