A recent research paper revealed a new way to help AI models ingest way more data. Soon, you'll be able to put millions of words into context windows of AI models, researchers say. Bigger AI models can handle more, but only up to about 75,000. Massive context windowsThis Ring Attention method means that we should be able to put millions of words into the context windows of AI models, not just tens of thousands. “Getting information from social media is likely to lead to you being severely disinformed,” said Ahmed. Everyone from US foreign adversaries to domestic extremists to internet trolls and “engagement farmers” has been exploiting the war on social media for their own personal or political gain, he added. “Bad actors surrounding us have been manipulating, confusing and trying to create deception on social media platforms,” Dan Brahmy, CEO of the Israeli social media threat intelligence firm Cyabra, said Thursday in a video posted to LinkedIn. The dynamic simultaneously highlights the business models of social media and the role the companies play in carefully calibrating their users’ experiences. ‘Be very cautious about sharing’Despite giving the impression of reality and truthfulness, Brookie said, individual stories and combat footage conveyed through social media often lack the broader perspective and context that journalists, research organizations and even social media moderation teams apply to a situation to help achieve a fuller understanding of it.

Harrison Ford has been donning the fedora and cracking the whip of the daring tomb-raider Indiana Jones for more than 40 years. The series' latest installment, "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," leans on myths from ancient Greece about a device that can supposedly turn back the hands of time. Indiana Jones suddenly looked generations younger — perfect for the movie's opening sequence, set during World War II. Founded in 1975 by celebrated "Star Wars" creator Geroge Lucas, ILM — a division of Lucasfilm, which also produces "Indiana Jones" — is at the forefront of this new Hollywood frontier. One of the team's biggest achievements has been speeding up the timeline by which filmmakers can implement these tools, Bredow said.

REUTERS/Brendan McDermid/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsWASHINGTON, Oct 13 (Reuters) - Big bank executives warned a number of products and services could become uneconomical if new proposed bank capital hikes are adopted as written, but said they were hopeful they could win some changes. Citi Chief Financial Officer Mark Mason said the proposal would lead to a 16% to 20% increase in the bank's capital. The bank is reviewing products and operations, he said, highlighting equity investments, which will also be deemed much riskier under the rules. Overview: Forecast or fantasyWe're now at least two years on from when a slew of space companies went public during the SPAC frenzy, and, look, none of them look great. Now a bit further down the road, I want to look at a different financial metric: 2023 revenue projections. I ran an informal series for a while to mark when a space company announced it was going public. The rest of the pack isn't as on the mark: A few companies are roughly halfway to their earlier 2023 revenue projections, or performing even better. Spire forecast 2023 revenue of $227 million and is closing in on about $107 million.

False killer whale Morten Falch SortlandThe sharing of prey is common for false killer whales, which are long-lived creatures with strong social bonds, Baird said. Summary Russia moving fast to de-ratify nuclear test ban treatyAccuses US of nuclear testing site activitySays it won't test itself unless Washington doesSays it will keep sharing monitoring dataOct 10 (Reuters) - Russia accused the United States on Tuesday of carrying out preparatory work at a nuclear testing site in Nevada but said that Moscow would not restart its own nuclear testing programme unless Washington did. A nuclear test by the United States or Russia could encourage others such as China to follow suit, starting a new nuclear arms race between the big powers, which stopped nuclear testing in the years after the Soviet Union's collapse in 1991. The United States last tested in 1992 and the Soviet Union in 1990. Ryabkov's comments also came days after President Vladimir Putin held out the possibility of resuming nuclear testing. Ryabkov was cited by Russian news agencies as saying that Russia felt it had no choice but to align itself with Washington's nuclear testing stance.

Boston, Massachusetts CNN —Though home to the Boston Red Sox, Fenway Park is known for being green. Spanning a section of what was once an empty black rubber roof, a farm is making Fenway green in a completely different way. “We can produce anywhere from 4,000 to 6,000 pounds of fresh produce a year, depending on what we’re growing,” Grallert says. Social listening refers to monitoring your social media for customer feedback and industry trends. Social listening isn't easy, but small-business founders say it's worth your time. Here, two small-business owners explain how social listening benefits their companies. Sharma and Arias handle most of the social listening for their companies, with help from their small teams and the tools available within social platforms. "It's very manual," Arias said, adding that her customer-care consultant helped with day-to-day social listening and responding to comments and DMs.

I see the benefits in kidsWhen I was in high school, I avoided anything but the most basic attempts at school spirit. AdvertisementAdvertisementAfter attending a university with unabashed school spirit and spending over two decades as an academic advisor to middle school, high school, and college students, I've seen the many ways school spirit days can have a positive impact on connection, collaboration, and creativity. At a time when so many students feel isolated among peers, school spirit days can facilitate community bonding by increasing interaction and engagement. For elementary school students, focusing on a few school spirit days with a simple theme that do not require last-minute costume shopping reduces adult overwhelm.

Some tech leaders see the gadgets as the iPhone of the AI era, a way to own the hardware we use to interact with AI. A true iPhone successor could be tech's "golden goose," but past attempts have failed. The race is on as generative AI tools like ChatGPT, OpenAI's conversational AI chatbot, take the world by storm. Even though he said AI hardware innovations represent "the golden goose for tech players in the next decade along with software," he doesn't think all of them will be successful. Since 1949, all female recruits have gone through boot camp at the South Carolina base; the 4th Battalion was created in 1986 as the women's unit. Inside the pool, men and women struggle side by side, jumping off a platform and swimming to the other end. Some measure of all-male companies would be necessary no matter what because there just are not enough female recruits to go around. The split, she said, divided them into “male Marines” and “female Marines,” and that shaped the men’s view of the women and made it more difficult for them to work together as they moved along. Young female recruits, who usually come from high schools where there is little separation, acknowledge the differences but voice no complaints.

The couple, who started tinkering in their apartment kitchen in 2019 in an effort to recreate the breakfast tacos Jaramillo grew up eating, raised $180,000 from family and friends to bring their restaurant to life. That's a relatively small amount for opening a brand-new restaurant, noted May: "We were able to do it on a pretty shoestring budget." When they raised money, they didn't give up any equity, meaning Jaramillo and May own 100% of the company. Just “tap tap” after you’ve raised your arm to wake up the Watch and you’ll take action on the active app. And for third-party apps, double tap will do the primary action if you get a notification. It may sound like a novelty, but in my initial testing I’ve found double tap to be surprisingly useful (and it feels pretty magical, too). I can see double tap evolving to become as natural a gesture as poking at the Apple Watch’s screen or spinning its digital crown.
