Opinion | How Did Biden Do at His News Conference?

To the Editor:Re “In News Conference, Biden Has Slips but Shows Strength on Foreign Policy” (news article, nytimes.com, July 11):President Biden’s performance at Thursday’s press conference was neither his debate disaster nor as underwhelming as his subsequent interview with George Stephanopoulos. However, it was also not dispositive of the doubts about the viability of his continued candidacy that have emerged over the past couple of weeks. So, Democrats still need to focus on which is the lesser of two gambles. Or do the Democrats risk potential chaos in service of a revitalized nomination process? The only thing worse than a gamble you lose is one that you never even had a chance of winning in the first place.

Though she cited its circulation benefits following a severe blood-clot scare with the birth of her child, the French Open said it would bar the style in the future. However, the Women’s Tennis Association formally allowed it, and Williams continued to wear versions of the bodysuit at the 2019 and 2021 Australian Opens, normalizing the agile and simplified cut for the tennis court.

The records of a “very small number” of customers on January 2, 2023 were also implicated, AT&T said. The breach also included AT&T landline customers who interacted with those cell numbers. Additionally, AT&T said that for an undisclosed subset of its records, one or more cell site identification numbers linked to the calls and texts were also exposed. In the new incident, AT&T told CNN it learned in April that customer data was illegally downloaded from its workspace on Snowflake, a third-party cloud platform.

Elon Musk's X is in breach of EU online content rules as the social media platform uses "dark patterns" to deceive users, the European Commission said Friday. The body's preliminary view, published Friday, is that the platform has broken rules regarding dark patterns, advertising transparency and data access for researchers. X's use of the blue checkmark for "verified accounts" does not correspond to industry practices as anyone can subscribe and obtain a verified status, the commission said. It added that there was evidence of "motivated malicious actors" abusing the verified status to deceive users. If the commission's views are confirmed, X could face a fine of up to 6% of its global annual turnover.

CNN —Scientists in Western Australia have found a tree frog which is bright blue, rather than the usual green, due to a rare genetic mutation. This is the first time a blue color mutation has been recorded in the magnificent tree frog, according to AWC. “Very occasionally, a green frog is missing yellow pigment in its skin, and it results in an entirely or mostly blue frog,” she said in the statement. “I’ve seen tens of thousands of frogs over the years, and only seen one blue frog - and it was nowhere near as spectacular as this magnificent tree frog. A jury in federal court in Manhattan on Wednesday found the investor Bill Hwang guilty on charges arising from the collapse of Archegos Capital Management, which led to roughly $10 billion in losses for a handful of big Wall Street banks. Two key witnesses were former employees of Archegos, which Mr. Hwang had set up in 2013 as a giant family office that traded like a hedge fund but without much regulatory oversight. In all, Mr. Hwang, 60, was charged with 11 counts of securities fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy, racketeering and market manipulation. The jury found him guilty on 10 of those charges and found him not guilty on one of the seven counts of market manipulation. Mr. Hwang, who was seated and wearing a dark suit when the foreperson read the verdict, could spend the rest of his life in a federal prison.
