The fight over Wisconsin — considered a must-win for Harris as part of Democrats’ so-called blue wall — could tilt the election. Tim Walz has re-energized staff members in the state, a campaign official told NBC News. With more than 200 staffers statewide, the Harris campaign touts 48 offices across Wisconsin, including some in smaller, more rural areas that Trump won in 2020. But the Trump campaign is mounting its own effort in the state. An RNC official also said the Trump campaign and the Wisconsin GOP have more than 70 staff members and 40 offices across the state.

Pagers, devices that are used every day as a crucial form of communication for health care professionals, became a deadly weapon Tuesday as thousands of them simultaneously exploded in Lebanon, killing 37 people and injuring thousands. The explosions targeted the militant and political group Hezbollah, after the devices had reportedly begun beeping and heating up. Pagers are wireless communication devices that receive radio signals from short- or long-range paging networks. The pagers that exploded in Lebanon were made to appear as if they were Gold Apollo’s AR-924 pagers, but The New York Times reported that they were actually created by Israeli intelligence workers. Following the explosions on Tuesday, Hezbollah told Al Jazeera that the “treacherous and criminal enemy will certainly be punished for this aggressive act.”How did the pagers explode?

He bemoaned that, despite those milestones, which he framed as being on behalf of the Jewish people, he had not seen an increase in support from Jewish voters. The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for further comment on the former president's remarks. At a separate event in the capital on Thursday evening, he shared a similar warning with Jewish voters about the stakes of their support in the election. As Trump continues to court Jewish voters ahead of the November general election, he has continued to publicly assail high-profile Jewish leaders like Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Pennsylvania Gov. Trump’s comments Thursday echo his years of frustration at Jewish voters’ lack of support for him (they historically lean Democratic, according to the Pew Research Center.)

A former Department of Justice attorney told Business Insider this week that the court seemed poised to rule against TikTok. Washington CNN —President Joe Biden wrapped a meeting with his Cabinet on Friday, his first high-profile convening of his advisers in a year as he tries to set his post-presidential legacy. Ahead of the meeting, a White House official said Biden would instruct Cabinet members to “sprint to the finish,” as he looks to burnish legacy items while ensuring as much of his agenda is implemented before a potential second Trump presidency. And, he will tell his Cabinet to bring to him directly any hurdles or obstacles they are facing to get things done,” the official said ahead of the meeting. Administration officials have serious doubts a deal can be struck before Biden leaves office, and tensions in the region are only escalating. “The president will direct his Cabinet to get to work and make the next four months as productive as any other period in our administration,” the official said.

Coronary calcium buildup causes atherosclerosis, a chronic and inflammatory cardiovascular disease marked by narrowed arterial walls and thus reduced blood flow. Environmental contaminants have been increasingly recognized as risk factors for cardiovascular disease, but the association of metals with coronary artery calcification has been “largely unknown,” the study authors said. They hypothesized that higher urinary levels of nonessential metals — cadmium, tungsten and uranium — and essential metals — cobalt, copper and zinc — that have previously been associated with cardiovascular disease may be linked with calcification. The participants didn’t already have clinical cardiovascular disease and were recruited from Baltimore; Chicago; Los Angeles; New York City; St. Paul, Minnesota; and Winston Salem, North Carolina. The idea behind saving for retirement is to provide yourself with income between when you stop working and when you die. For those born after 1960, full retirement age — when you receive a full Social Security benefit — is age 67. So maybe it's not surprising that most U.S. retirement savers aren't planning on a lengthy retirement. In many ways, F1 Academy is a spiritual successor to W Series, an all-female racing series that shuttered in 2022 because of financial problems. Where F1 Academy differs is that it has the financial backing of Formula 1 and buy-in from the sport's constructors, with each team sponsoring F1 Academy drivers. "F1 Academy is a really friendly environment and a bit different to when I've been in male paddocks with mixed competition. She previously competed in W Series and has enjoyed her time so far with F1 Academy, which she describes as a "streamlined" series. Attempts to purge voter rolls increase as election nears

As of Tuesday, at least three dozen cases related to voter rolls and their maintenance are pending in 19 states, according to the liberal-leaning Democracy Docket, which tracks election litigation. The right-wing effort to purge voter rolls has largely centered around claims that noncitizens are casting illegal votes in favor of Democrats. “There’s always been some litigation about voter rolls and list maintenance. Reviewing voter rolls is a regular practice for states, and despite the 90-day quiet period, the NVRA does allow individuals to ask to be taken off lists close to an election. The federal law exempts some states if they allow voter registration on Election Day at polling centers where federal elections are conducted.

CNN —The US is expected to announce a major weapons package to Ukraine as soon as next week, but it will likely delay the shipping of the equipment due to inventory shortages, according to two US officials. The US currently has $5.9 billion left in Presidential Drawdown Authority for Ukraine, the Pentagon said this week, which is set to expire at the end of the fiscal year in less than two weeks. Presidential drawdown packages were initially intended as a way of supplying Ukraine with arms and equipment in the short-term since the start of the war with Russia. More sophisticated equipment with long production times was sent through another mechanism – the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative – that purchased weapons directly from arms manufacturers for future delivery. The US believes Ukraine will need at least $500 million worth of presidential drawdown authority per month through fiscal year 2025, according to a senior administration official.

A mural is displayed in an alley downtown on September 16, 2024 in Springfield, Ohio. Former President Donald Trump and running mate JD Vance's unfounded claims about Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio weaken the Republican Party's border message, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine wrote in an op-ed published Friday. "The Biden administration's failure to control the southern border is a very important issue that Mr. Trump and Mr. Vance are talking about and one that the American people are rightfully deeply concerned about," DeWine, a Republican, wrote in the New York Times. "But their verbal attacks against these Haitians — who are legally present in the United States — dilute and cloud what should be a winning argument about the border," he said. Trump's latest immigration claims thrust Springfield, Ohio into the national spotlight, after he and Vance — who represents Ohio in the Senate — promoted unfounded rumors that Haitian immigrants were stealing and eating city resident's pets.
