CNN —A Travis County judge granted a Texas House committee’s last-minute temporary restraining order request against the state just 90 minutes before Robert Roberson was scheduled to be executed Thursday. The sleep apnea notification is available on the latest Series 10 Apple Watches and some older models after a software update. In order to detect sleep apnea, the watch measures breathing disturbances during sleep over 30 days. But the US Food and Drug Administration approved marketing of the sleep apnea feature on Apple Watches in mid-September. The Apple Watch has a few of these capabilities, but the company did not factor them into the sleep apnea feature.

Traders and central banks should increase exposure to gold, Bank of America says. The analysts see gold hitting $3,000 an ounce by the end of next year, implying 11% upside. AdvertisementGold is increasingly attractive as other traditional "safe haven" assets face mounting risks, Bank of America strategists said. "Gold looks to be the last 'safe haven' asset standing, incentivising traders including central banks to increase exposure," the strategists said in a Wednesday note. The Bank of America analysts note that gold now makes up 10% of central bank reserves, up from 3% a decade ago.

ROME — Italy’s parliament made it illegal on Wednesday for couples to go abroad to have a baby via surrogacy — a project of Prime Minister’s Giorgia Meloni party which activists say is meant to target same-sex partners. The upper house Senate voted into law a bill proposed by Meloni’s Brothers of Italy party by 84 votes to 58. “Motherhood is absolutely unique, it absolutely cannot be surrogated, and it is the foundation of our civilization,” Brothers of Italy senator Lavinia Mennuni said during the parliamentary debate. “We want to uproot the phenomenon of surrogacy tourism.”Earlier this year, Meloni called surrogacy an "inhuman" practice that treated children as supermarket products, echoing a position expressed by the Catholic Church.
