REUTERS/Leonardo BenassattoSAO PAULO, July 17 (Reuters) - Miguel Pereira de Souza and his dog Ruby zoom through Brazil's sprawling metropolis Sao Paulo on a motor-bike on a mission: hand out free dog food to less fortunate pooches. "I said from today every time I see a dog going hungry, I will donate a portion of food," Souza said, wiping away tears. Once Souza posted videos and pictures on social media of his food deliveries and the street dogs, donations started to flood in. "I had more than 700 kilograms (1,543 lb) of dog food in my living room," said Souza, who has Ruby's name tattooed on his forearm. "This help from Miguel - donating food, water, time and encouraging others to donate - I think is very cool," she said.

A clash lasting little more than an hour ended with Koolhof holding serve to love. The 33-year-old Skupski, who collapsed to the ground after match point, is the first British man to win the men's doubles at Wimbledon since Jonathan Marray played alongside Frederick Nielson in 2012. Skupski adds the men's doubles crown to the mixed doubles titles he won in 2021 and 2022. It was the second time that Granollers and Zeballos had fallen at the final hurdle at Wimbledon, having been beaten in 2021 by Nikola Mektic and Mate Pavic.

July 14 (Reuters) - Former Fox News (FOXA.O) host Tucker Carlson and former White House adviser Neil Patel are looking to raise funds to start a new media company that could potentially be anchored on Twitter, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday. The duo is looking to raise hundreds of millions of dollars to fund the company, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter. Carlson did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for a comment, while Patel was not immediately reachable. 5G push catches European telecom kit makers short
  + stars: | 2023-07-14 | by ( ) www.reuters.com   time to read: +2 min
LONDON, July 14 (Reuters Breakingviews) - The race to roll out faster 5G networks in the past two years has turned into a trap for telecom kit makers in Europe. The Finnish telecom gear group surprised investors with a profit warning; it cut its full-year net sales guidance to between 23.2 billion euros and 24.6 billion euros ($26.05 billion and $27.62 billion) from 24.6 billion euros to 26.2 billion euros previously. Mobile networks in big markets like the United States invested aggressively to roll out 5G equipment in 2021 and 2022, ending up with excessively high inventories. Yet this came just as mobile equipment makers’ customers started to rein in spending on the back of inflation, exacerbating their problem. A classic marionette might have eight to 10 strings. Leah Ogawa’s latest puppet, an ethereal tree-shaped form, has more than 600: clustered into thickets and tangles, threaded through eye bolts on the ceiling, and fanning out overhead to all corners of the room. Or you could call it a dance performed amid a landscape of strange props. Or a kinetic sculpture activated from the sidelines. Throughout the 21-minute arc of “Divine Generations,” a silent four-person ensemble pulls and unspools various cords around the room, to coax inert disc-shaped elements into a wakeful upward dance.

Winklevoss twins take strike two with crypto hype

The Winklevii, as they came to be known after “The Social Network” movie debuted, are suing another former friend – crypto baron Barry Silbert. That indicates some investors still believe in crypto even if they’ve lost faith in its former stars. Much like social media, the Winklevii seem to be on the losing end of the crypto streak, too. Follow @AnitaRamaswamy on TwitterCONTEXT NEWSOn July 7, cryptocurrency exchange Gemini sued Digital Currency Group, the parent company of now-bankrupt crypto lender Genesis, seeking over $1.1 billion. LONDON, July 11 (Reuters) - Siblings and solo around-the-world aviators Mack and Zara Rutherford set more records on Tuesday as they collected a trophy whose previous winners include Lewis Hamilton and Richard Branson. The British-Belgian duo are the youngest winners of the Royal Automobile Club's Segrave Trophy, first awarded in 1930 and featuring a roll call of aviation pioneers and motorsport greats. Only four women have previously won the Segrave trophy - awarded to British adventurers who show outstanding skill, courage and initiative in travel on land, sea or air - and none as young as Zara. Mack, who beat the record set by 18-year-old Briton Travis Ludlow in 2021, had to land on an uninhabited island after crossing the Pacific Ocean on a trip whose itinerary had to be changed due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Previous winners of the Segrave Trophy include Formula One racing drivers Stirling Moss, Bruce McLaren, Jackie Stewart, Nigel Mansell and Damon Hill as well as Hamilton.

New York CNN —For being less than two years old, Prime energy and sport drinks are already enduring a major growth spurt. Prime’s portfolioThe duo’s first drink, Hydration, is a Gatorade-like sports drink that mixes coconut water and electrolytes, without sugar or caffeine. In 2013, a Senate panel held a similar hearing with top energy drinks. “It will be interesting to see how the Prime crew alters their pitch, or the branding on the energy drink to move it away from potential confusion with the sports drink, if there’s a hearing,” he said. Meanwhile, Prime Energy has raked in around $42.5 million this year, according to Circana data given to BevNet.

And after Murray had won the third set to take a 2-1 lead, the match was stopped approximately 20 minutes before the curfew. The other match to be suspended because of the curfew was Djokovic’s clash with Hurkacz on Sunday.

After soaking up all the tension for close to three hours, world number 76 Svitolina finally toppled 19th seed Azarenka with an ace on her second match point and promptly collapsed onto her back in her moment of triumph. Bizarrely, the crowd booed Azarenka as she left the court, obviously not realising the reason why the Belarusian did not offer Svitolina the obligatory post match handshake. "I thought it was a great tennis match. Svitolina frustrated Azarenka for over 11 minutes in the fourth game of the match which dragged on for five deuces, with the Ukrainian missing a break point chance in the process. Seconds later she had levelled the contest after Azarenka swiped a forehand long to surrender her serve.

LONDON, July 9 (Reuters) - Stefanos Tsitsipas and his younger brother Petros finally got a chance to finish off their first-round Wimbledon doubles match that started on Friday but, unfortunately for the Greek duo, their day out on Sunday proved to be short and not very sweet. Stranded at one set apiece when they were called off court on day five of the championships, the Greek duo emerged second best after they were beaten 6-7(3) 6-4 6-2 by French teenagers Arthur Fils and Luca Van Assche. It is unlikely Apostolos would have approved of what he saw next as the young French duo then streaked through to win the next six games, ending the Tsitsipas challenge with a volley winner. While 19-year-olds Fils and Van Assche celebrated with a leaping chest bump, the Tsitsipas brothers had to make do with the look of irritation they were given by dad Apostolos. ‘Wham!’ Review: They Made It Big, Then Broke Up

The new documentary about George Michael, Andrew Ridgeley and the music they made as Wham! — it’s just called “Wham!” — found me in a moment of need for a nostalgic, fantastical elixir, something short, sweet and tangential to my feeling of national blues. For one thing, Wham!, the duo, made soul music that popped. And the movie dances past all of the thorny moral and ethical questions of white people making Black stuff. The disembodied voices of Michael and Ridgeley guide the whole thing — rumination and memory as narration.
