From the week leading up to Elon Musk's acquisition to the lay-offs week and this week gone, it's been a very weird and tiring time. It happened to be the same day that the Twitter offices were holding big Halloween events and had it decorated. Remote work was a big cultural hitA lot of people work remotely full-time or for at least two days a week. Kyle Williams became interested in trading stocks after watching "The Big Short". The film piqued his interest and he began researching the stock market. Before Williams began researching the stock market, the only exposure he had to the stock market was through a mutual fund called the American Century Equity Growth Fund Investor Class (BEQGX), which his parents helped him set up when he was 11 years old, he said. As he became more familiar with the stock market, he researched the mutual fund he had been investing in and realized it wasn't even beating the S&P 500 after fees. Williams also decided to switch his major from engineering to finance because it was more aligned with the stock market.

This is my fourth time as a poll worker in Philadelphia. If their information was correct, we guided them to the touch-screen voting machines and gave them extra help if needed. When I used to work as a poll worker in the past, people were worried about voting terminals getting hacked.
They said poll workers work long hours and risk being harassed, but it's an important job. I worked as an assistant manager at a polling location in Fulton County, Georgia, where election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss worked during the 2020 presidential election. I first started working the polls in 2020 for the presidential election, when a lot of poll workers quit because of the pandemic. One of our Republican election observers appeared to have fallen asleep while he was there, so that made me less nervous. We had to tell them that when you sign up to get a driver's license in Georgia, you're not automatically registered.
But for many people, salary negotiations are hard to navigate. Brian Armstrong is the CEO of Coinbase, which recently announced that it was banning salary negotiations. If salary negotiations are prohibited, they said, there have to be other measures in place to ensure that every worker is paid fairly. Salary negotiations will always be challenging for some — if not most — of usRestructuring salary negotiations won't necessarily make the act of asking for more money easier right away. Still, she understands that salary negotiations can get contentious, and she emphasized that the positive dynamic between employer and employee is important to preserve.

Researchers at the University of Vermont analyzed 1,000 TikTok videos under the most popular hashtags related to body image and eating by using search terms like food, nutrition, weight and body image. On the list were #WhatIEatInADay and #WeightLoss, which had 3.2 billion views and nearly 10 billion views respectively at the start of the study. Less than 3% of the nutrition-related TikTok videos analyzed by the study's researchers were weight-inclusive. Nearly 44% of the shared videos included content about weight loss; 20.4% portrayed someone's weight transformation.
It's these types of manipulators I've spent a great deal of my career identifying. The hard and simple truth is that using body language to identify manipulation takes time and study. You're accustomed to the natural body language of your loved one and will have an easier time recognizing any deviations, whether conscious or subconscious. Signs of a manipulatorOnce you thoroughly understand a person's typical body language and gestures, you can start detecting deviations in their behavior. First, it's important to pay attention to how people say what they're saying. "That's a telltale sign of indecision, and possibly lying," Donaldson said. "They're sitting on a couch or chair and they're speaking with you, then all of a sudden they're moving around," Donaldson said. What do you do if you think someone's lying to you? Donaldson suggested asking the person follow-up questions — and repeat questions — because if they're lying, it might be difficult to maintain consistency with their answers.

Now, Jim Obergefell — the man for which that case was named — is running for Ohio state House. "But you know, the nice thing is, everything I went through with the court case — a lot of that really prepared me for something like this." The "court case" in question was Obergefell v. Hodges, the landmark 2015 civil rights case in which the Supreme Court ruled five to four that same-sex couples were guaranteed the right to marry. "I don't start with it, and I don't focus on it," he said of his association with the 2015 Supreme Court case. "Very, very few of them have a Supreme Court case that happened because of that relationship."
The only field in medicine that uses all of these tools is orthopedic surgery, so it seemed like the right fit. I specialized in limb-lengthening surgery specifically because I wanted to do something that was different from everybody else. People that undergo limb-lengthening surgery are from all walks of life, and many used COVID lockdowns to recover post-surgery. I would say 80% to 85% of my cosmetic limb-lengthening patients are men and 15% to 20% are women. Even though I've done limb-lengthening surgeries hundreds of times, I still get a little nervous.

Facebook almost certainly has your phone number and email address, even if you never handed them over. Now the firm has a new tool to let people check if Facebook has that data, and delete it. Meta/Shona Ghosh"You can ask us to confirm whether we have your phone number or email address," the firm states. It's possible that Meta isn't really technically deleting your phone number and emails at all, said Boiten. "It may well be that they only implement something like this on the outside — so at a point the phone number threatens to go outside the system, it says, 'This phone number is one we've been told we can't use,' rather than really removing information."
While Rent The Runway closed its retail stores due to the pandemic, it still has a network of drop-off locations in major cities, including New York. More than 50% of clothing hanging up in someone's closet is only worn a handful of times before being discarded, according to Rent the Runway CEO Jennifer Hyman. That's why she, along with co-founder Jenny Fleiss, started the fashion rental and subscription business Rent the Runway in 2009 – a service the company has coined a "closet in the cloud." Customers can rent items for as long as they'd like and have the option to purchase any pieces they love. In its first decade of existence, Rent the Runway says it reached more than 11 million members.
Laura Hayward started her Wall Street career at Morgan Stanley during the financial crisis. Hayward, who rose ranks at Bank of America, shares what she learned to be both successful and happy on Wall Street. "I'd always been a finance person at work and a spiritual person and hippie outside of work," Hayward told Insider. She found that leaders build trust by being vulnerable and admitting mistakes. Employees can focus on the work of serving customers and delivering customer success when solid trust exists in the workplace. You can't build trust on shaky ground, so being aloof when it comes to owning up to a mistake can negatively affect a lot of relationships at work. As you're building trust with people, it's important to open yourself up as a way of investing more deeply in your relationships. A big part of that is knowing who you're meeting with, so do your own research (on LinkedIn, Twitter, and Google search) to familiarize yourself with all the key players.
Most Americans file a state income tax return and a federal income tax return. New Hampshire and Washington still do tax certain investment earnings, so some residents might have to file a state tax return this spring. As of 2021, Tennessee fully repealed its state income tax on income earned from interest and dividends. The states that do tax income have either a flat income tax — meaning everyone, regardless of how much they earn, pays the same percentage of their income to the government — or a progressive income tax, which means their tax rate is determined by how much they earn.
