Iran, which has been boosting supply despite U.S. sanctions, also pumped more, with output hitting the highest level since 2018. The second-largest increase came from Iran, the survey found, which pushed output to 3.15 million bpd. Output from the 10 OPEC members that are subject to OPEC+ supply cut agreements rose by 80,000 bpd, the survey found. Top exporter Saudi Arabia kept August and September output close to 9 million bpd, the survey found, as the country extended a voluntary 1 million bpd output cut to provide extra support for the market.

IHR and the Baluch rights group Hal Vash said at least 23 people had been injured. The semi-official news agency Tasnim said police had used tear gas to disperse "a few people who had gathered and were throwing rocks at security forces". In the Sept. 30 crackdown, security forces killed at least 66 people, according to Amnesty International. Molavi Abdolhamid, Iran's most prominent Sunni cleric and a long-time critic of Tehran's Shi'ite leaders, demanded justice for the victims of the Sept. 30 crackdown.

Ukraine's air force shot down 34 Russian drones in an overnight attack, officials said. Ukraine is now using new air defense systems from the United States and Germany. Russia has used the Shahed-136 drones in a series of destructive attacks on Ukrainian cities in the last year. In one attack, Shahed-136 drones struck two energy facilities in Odesa, leaving 1.5 million people in Ukraine without power for several days. But while Iran is increasing its supply of drones like these, Ukraine has increased its air defense capacity to better defend against them.
