Deliveries are the closest approximation of sales reported by Tesla but are not precisely defined in the company's shareholder communications. Tesla's Model 3 is about $4,000 more than that. Aging lineup, early days for Cybertruck While EV sales are still gaining popularity worldwide, the growth rate has slowed. In a push for end-of-quarter sales, Musk recently mandated that all sales and service staff install and demo FSD for customers before they hand over their cars. Despite its name, Tesla's premium option requires a human driver at the wheel, ready to steer or brake at any moment.

Keys to becoming CEO: Communication and curiosityOver the next few years, Homara worked her way up from being the office manager. Homara is part of the board of directors for the Silicon Valley chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction, and she's communications chair for Women Construction Owners and Executives. Women have made strides in the construction field since 2016, when they comprised 12.5% of the industry. For example, Homara says one of the biggest misconceptions is what construction is "dirty, dusty and heavy" work, but not all construction jobs are labor intensive. In 2020, roles like construction laborers, carpenters and electricians made up 3 in 5 construction jobs.

Daniel A. Moore Sr., who created a pioneering African American history museum in Atlanta when such initiatives were rare, died on March 4 in Decatur, Ga. His death, in a hospital, was confirmed by his son Dan Moore Jr.Mr. Moore started his eclectic collection of artifacts in 1978 and in 1984 moved it to a handsome 1910 brick building on Auburn Avenue, known as “Sweet Auburn” for its centrality to African American history. The building, which had been a schoolbook depository and a tire warehouse, was “erected brick by brick by African American masons,” the museum says. Mr. Moore took a longer view, though memories of the civil rights movement were still fresh when he was getting started, with help from a handful of well-off patrons and from Fulton County, which donated the land. Unlike the King Center, his focus was on the whole African American experience, from Africa to the Middle Passage, and from enslavement to the civil rights campaign and beyond.

Harris' evolving role comes as progressive Democrats target Biden over his pro-Israel stance, polls show him in a tight race against Republican rival Donald Trump. While some have knocked Harris's performance as vice president and value to the reelection campaign in the past, she's moved into a starring role. Current and former Harris aides disputed the idea of any difference in policy between Biden, characterizing their efforts as a difference in tone and emphasis. Biden cannot emphasize divisive cultural issues without alienating more conservative voters he needs to win, current and former aides said. If Trump wins white voters, the largest U.S. racial group, for the third election in a row, Biden needs a dominant showing among a diverse set of groups that typically favor Democrats.

The bill is similar to Florida’s ban on diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives in public colleges, which was signed into law last May. This political theater lifts up a caricature of college, one on which coddled minds are seduced into liberal ideas. If states become hostile to students’ values, those students could choose to go elsewhere or to forgo college altogether. Part of a larger survey about students’ experiences of higher education, the report left me with one major takeaway: The national debate about so-called woke campuses does not reflect what most college students care about. They underscore how unhinged our national debate over higher education has become and how misaligned Republican-led public higher education systems are with the bulk of college students.

Walmart's global technology platform runs the retailer's core business operations, including in-store point-of-sale systems, e-commerce, and distribution and fulfillment centers. Internal emails obtained by BI show that Walmart's business is interrupted by issues with its global tech platform at a far more frequent rate than previously reported. CNN —Cocoa prices are surging so high, the Easter Bunny might want to hoard its chocolate. Poor climate and crop diseases in West Africa – home to 70% of global cocoa production – have tightened supply and caused prices to skyrocket. As prices rise, some chocolatiers are exploring cost-cutting alternatives, like diversifying their products to depend less on cocoa. Yet mining often destroys farms and the possibility of a livelihood in cocoa production, Issaka said. “Given the persistently high cocoa prices, it may be necessary for us to make responsible adjustments to pricing in the future,” the spokesperson wrote in an email.

As Tax Day approaches, there are plenty of things small business owners should keep in mind when filing taxes this year. Since business tax filing is complex, most experts recommend small business owners work with a professional tax adviser rather than trying to file on their own or even with tax-filing software. Here are things small business owners should consider as the April 15 deadline looms. There’s also a tax credit based on employer contribution, up to $1,000 annually per employee, over the plan’s first five years. Designed to help small businesses keep employees during pandemic-era shutdowns, the generous credit let businesses file amended tax returns to claim the credit.

Canada Goose said Tuesday that it will cut about 17% of its corporate workforce, following a string of other retailers that have laid off employees this year as consumers continue to pull back on discretionary spending. The cuts will affect staff at Canada Goose's corporate headquarters, which had about 915 employees as of April 2023, according to a securities filing. Between April 2021 and April 2023, Canada Goose nearly doubled the number of employees at its corporate head offices from 544 to 915 to support its "continued growth," the filing says. When releasing its holiday-quarter results, Canada Goose noted that its wholesale revenues were particularly weak, an ongoing dynamic for the company that many other retailers have felt. The layoffs at Canada Goose come after Nike, Macy's , Wayfair , Hasbro and Etsy all announced widespread layoffs over the past few months.

Ericsson to lay off 1,200 people in Sweden amid challenging market
  + stars: | 2024-03-25 | by ( ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +1 min
Sweden's Ericsson on Monday said it would lay off about 1,200 employees in Sweden as a part of costs cuts announced earlier this year, citing a challenging mobile networks market and lower volumes in 2024. After a few years of high demand for 5G equipment, buying by telecom providers has slowed, prompting firms such as Ericsson and Nokia to lay off thousands of employees to save costs. "As previously stated, Ericsson expects a challenging mobile networks market in 2024, with further volume contraction as customers remain cautious," the company said in a statement. Ericsson will continue its initiatives to increase operational efficiency during 2024, but will not make any separate statements on those, it added. Ericsson had told Reuters in January it could look at further cost cuts this year including layoffs but without giving a specific number.
