Only five sports — aquatics, athletics, cycling, fencing and gymnastics — have appeared in each of the 30 iterations of the Olympic Games. Host countries, as a result, now have more leverage than ever in adding to the Olympic program. The LA 2028 OCOG proposed five new sports for the Olympic program that were approved by the IOC in late 2023. Since Friday, the front developed from a potential tropical cyclone to a tropical depression, and it continues to draw strength from warm, tropical water. Tropical Storm Debby was expected to continue moving north at 15mph and hug Florida's west coast. The outer portions of a tropical system, which later became Tropical Storm Debby, saturates Fort Myers Beach, Fla., on Saturday. The named tropical storm designation means the front has sustained winds of 39 to 73 mph. Debby comes with a hurricane warning and tropical storm warning for the state's west coast from the Suwannee River to the Ochlockonee River, the hurricane center said.

A Florida deputy was killed and two others are hospitalized with injuries following an “ambush” shooting overnight at a home in Lake County, authorities said.
