CNN —Three men’s lacrosse players at Tufts University remain hospitalized after a voluntary, supervised 45-minute workout with a Navy SEAL graduate left them with a dangerous condition called rhabdomyolysis, the university said. A spokesperson for the university previously said five remained hospitalized. All have been evaluated by medical professionals, with a total of nine requiring hospitalization for rhabdomyolysis (rhabdo),” Collins said in an updated statement Monday. “The university continues to closely monitor the condition of the team, and some individual team members have been medically cleared to resume training,” Collins said. “A typical time of year when we see it in athletes is in the off-season, or getting ramped back up,” Sikka, who also serves as a team physician for the New York Yankees, told CNN.

The CBOE Volatility Index , or VIX, fell below 16 on Monday and is now flirting with its lowest level since the July doldrums. "Our historical study of volatility shows that the VIX averaged 22 points in October, 4 points above the current VIX level. We believe the low implied volatility, upcoming October earnings season and elections provide an attractive opportunity for investors to hedge a potential rise in volatility," the note said. The options would have a strike price of 18 and expire in November, serving as a bet that expectations of volatility will rise as the election nears. There are no additional losses on the trade if the VIX actually declines instead.

Khan said that dynamic pricing, while a separate pricing strategy, may have helped price targeting become more prevalent as people become increasingly used to encountering it. Dynamic pricing itself has already proven controversial in some areas. Wendy's received major heat from customers after announcing plans to introduce dynamic pricing and AI-enabled menu changes as early as 2025. Later, the fast-food chain clarified that its dynamic pricing would not raise prices but rather only provide discounts.

Mark Robinson, Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina and candidate for Governor, delivers remarks prior to Republican presidential nominee former President Donald Trump speaking at a campaign event at Harrah's Cherokee Center on August 14, 2024 in Asheville, North Carolina. The political network largely funded by billionaire industrialist Charles Koch has been quietly backing North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson despite a litany of controversies, according to records uncovered by CNBC. Though Robinson has denied he wrote the scores of posts, at least four of his top aides from his North Carolina gubernatorial campaign resigned within days of the report's publication. The move by Americans for Prosperity to back Robinson from a policy perspective surprised some North Carolina Republican strategists.

CNN —A Pennsylvania health care system this month agreed to pay $65 million to victims of a February 2023 ransomware attack after hackers posted nude photos of cancer patients online, according to the victims’ lawyers. Eighty percent of the $65-million settlement is set aside for victims whose nude photos were published online. The ransomware attack “was limited to the network supporting one physician practice located in Lackawanna County,” the Lehigh statement continued. A February ransomware attack on a major health insurance billing firm cut off health providers from billions of dollars and put some health clinics on the brink of bankruptcy. A full-scale ransomware attack on a health care provider has many costs aside from potential lawsuits, from rebuilding computer systems to retaining legal counsel, Henderson said.

In the flood of election polls you’ll see over the next few weeks, most polling groups will include responses from “likely voters.” And often from nobody else. In theory, these poll numbers should yield more accurate results, since the people who actually vote are the ones who dictate the outcome on Election Day. After all, how exactly can a pollster know who is “likely” to vote, and who therefore will be the focus of their results? The choices they make are important, because the results of likely-voter polls can differ from those that sample a wider population, such as everyone who is registered to vote. In a close race like this year’s presidential contest, one candidate might lead in a poll among likely voters, while another might lead in the same poll’s tally of registered voters.

Yet Johnson, and any other Republican who votes for this bill, will be quietly defying Trump's wishes just weeks before the 2024 election. In essence, Trump asked Republicans to threaten a government shutdown over the provision. Yet when the continuing resolution with the SAVE Act came up for a vote last week, it failed, with 14 Republicans voting against it. Many Republicans simply don't want to have this fight right nowDespite Trump's push, Republicans on Capitol Hill understand that actually following his lead would be reckless.
