CNN —Steve Harwell, the 56-year-old former lead singer of the rock group Smash Mouth, is receiving hospice care at his home, the band’s manager said Sunday. “Although Steve is here with us still, sadly it will only be for a short time,” Smash Mouth manager Robert Hayes said in a statement to CNN, noting Harwell’s fiancée is also by his side. “We would hope that people would respect Steve and his family’s privacy during this difficult time,” Hayes said. Harwell was a founding member and longtime lead singer of Smash Mouth, best known for its chart-topping singles “All Star” and “I’m a Believer.”“Steve’s iconic voice is one of the most recognizable voices from his generation. It’s always the back door, or an open window or something, to get our stuff played.”Since Harwell left the band in 2021, the group has continued to perform with new lead vocalist Zach Goode.

Was Hailey off to a sophisticated dinner and drinks, while Justin had just nipped out for a packet of M&Ms and some laundry detergent? Georgia is, of course, also the place where Donald Trump called and asked a Republican to “find” votes. And Georgia is the place where the Fulton County district attorney, Fani Willis, filed criminal charges that led to the indictment of Mr. Trump and 18 others for a conspiracy to subvert the 2020 election. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, one of Mr. Trump’s most enduring defenders representing one of the country’s more conservative districts, posted an image of an American flag upside down, signaling distress. And in one second-floor wing of Georgia’s State Capitol, a pair of Republican executives most likely shed few tears. “The 2020 election in Georgia was not stolen,” Mr. Kemp said last month on social media in response to Mr. Trump’s claims that he would unveil a report demonstrating the state’s election was fraudulent.

Aug 30 (Reuters) - Rock duo Royal Blood began its life in the southern English coastal resort of Worthing, but says it feels at home in the United States, where it will tour its fourth full length album to be released on Friday. It has toured in the United States for nearly a decade and heads there in September after dates in Britain. "I feel like in America, rock'n'roll (is) such a part of the language," lead singer Mike Kerr told Reuters. Still, he said he had never felt more confident lyrically than in their new album "Back to the Water Below". Thatcher said the lead single "Mountains At Midnight" was classic Royal Blood rock, but other tracks, such as "Pull Me Through", were more introspective.

Xpeng’s Didi deal is smart shortcut to growth

An Xpeng P5 electric vehicle (EV) is seen displayed during a media day for the Auto Shanghai show in Shanghai, China April 19, 2021. It’s buying compatriot Didi’s smart EV unit and paying $744 million, or 3.25% of its own stock. For its part, Didi seems to have given up its ambition to break into capital-intensive EV manufacturing, and that’s probably a smart move for a company stuck in listing limbo. It’s unclear if the deal with Didi will dilute VW’s shareholding but Xpeng’s worth is at least rising. New York CNN —Self-checkout kiosks are invading several chains, like Target and Kroger. In a recent company released podcast, Trader Joe’s President Jon Basalone said a rumor that the quirky grocery chain was adding them was as “false as false can be.” He added: “We believe in people. Ignoring the trendsNot jumping on the self-checkout trend isn’t the only thing that Trader Joe’s has ignored despite their competitors doing it. But Trader Joe’s stores are already overcrowded since the chain squeezes a limited number of items into small stores, many on city street corners.
