Deutsche Bank AG is a German multinational investment bank and financial services company headquartered in Frankfurt. Deutsche Bank on Wednesday snapped a 15-quarter profit streak with a narrower-than-expected loss, as it made a provision for an ongoing lawsuit over its Postbank division. The long-running lawsuit by investors alleges Deutsche Bank underpaid to take over the retail banking giant in 2010. Other highlights included:Profit before tax excluding the Postbank provision was 1.7 billion euros, up from 1.4 billion euros in the second quarter of 2023. Provision for credit losses was 476 million euros, up from 401 million euros a year ago.

According to the FBI’s analysis of Thomas Matthew Crooks’ laptop, Crooks searched how far Lee Harvey Oswald was when he shot and killed President John F. Kennedy in 1963. The search was on July 6, the same day the Trump rally was announced. “That’s a search that’s obviously significant in terms of his state of mind,” the FBI director added. The drone was in the air for approximately 11 minutes, and investigators believe Crooks watched a live feed from the drone on his phone. The FBI is investigating the shooting as both an attempted assassination and as a potential act of domestic terrorism.

Tesla on Tuesday reported a significant drop in profit in the three-month period between April and June, a result of the electric car company’s sluggish sales. The automaker said it earned $1.5 billion in the second quarter of the year on revenue of $25.5 billion. In the second quarter of 2023, Tesla made $2.7 billion and had revenue of $24.9 billion. The company’s current operating profit margin, a measure of how much money it makes on every dollar of revenue, was 6.3 percent, compared with 9.6 percent in the same period a year ago. The results will most likely heighten pressure on Tesla and its chief executive, Elon Musk, to show that the company can find new ways to grow and make money.
