For the last eight years, President Trump has given everything he has to fight for the people of our country. And then President Trump flew to Milwaukee and got back to work. A leader who rejects Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s Green New Scam and fights to bring back our great American factories. President Trump represents America’s last best hope to restore what — if lost — may never be found again. And every single day for the next four years, when I walk into that White House to help President Trump, I will be doing it for you.

To reread "Hillbilly Elegy" now, as I did this week, is to feel a sense of disorientation. JD Vance the author sounds a lot different than JD Vance the politician. Personally, I first read "Hillbilly Elegy" in college, in an earnest if somewhat contrived attempt to better understand communities unlike mine. On stage, he recounted a story that also appears in "Hillbilly Elegy," where Mamaw bluntly threatens violence against one of Vance's friends. There are hints of this in "Hillbilly Elegy" as well: He served as a public affairs Marine, where he was trained in the art of media relations, including "how stay on message."

Our campaign is not working through any scenarios where President Biden is not the top of the ticket. The delay stopped a draft letter circulating among House Democrats that, if made formal, would have exposed further cracks in the party. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer both pushed the DNC to delay the process, multiple sources told CNN. Behind the scenes, the president is not as defiant as he is in public, multiple Democratic sources told CNN. “President Biden is the nominee of the party.

Much has been made of the political pirouette J.D. Vance executed to secure the embrace of Donald J. Trump, a man he once called “cultural heroin” before seeking his endorsement for the Senate and, Wednesday night, accepting the Republican nomination to be his vice president. Old friends and former classmates have expressed bewilderment at the seemingly irreconcilable versions of Mr. Vance. Mr. Vance used his personal account of overcoming dysfunctional Appalachian family values to tell a larger story about forgotten Americans. In his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, he leaned again into those themes, at one point drawing attention to his mother, “who struggled with money and addiction but never gave up.” She stood in the audience when he continued, “And I’m proud to say that tonight my mom is here, 10 years clean and sober.”

Read previewThe Trump-Vance campaign is seemingly operating under the assumption that President Joe Biden will quit the race soon and let his Vice President Kamala Harris run for president. "To do so would be unfair to Gavin Newsom, JB Pritzker, Gretchen Whitmer, or whoever Kamala Harris picks as her running mate," Hughes added. Biden-Harris communications director Brian Fallon told Business Insider that the Trump-Vance campaign was trying to back down from having to debate Harris live. Representatives for the Trump-Vance campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment from BI sent outside regular business hours. In anticipation of a switch of candidates, Trump has already come up with nasty nicknames for Harris, including "Laffin' Kamala Harris" and "Cackling Copilot Kamala Harris."

The Federal Open Market Committee has two interest rate decisions scheduled before the election in July and September. "I think it's past time for them to cut interest rates," Zandi said. During a February interview with Fox News, Trump accused Powell of being "political" and planning interest rate cuts to coincide with the election. "I think he's going to do something to probably help the Democrats, I think, if he lowers interest rates," Trump said, adding that "it looks to me like he's trying to lower interest rates for the sake of maybe getting people elected."

J.D. Vance Becomes Trump’s New Apprentice

Speaking Wednesday at the Republican National Convention, Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio became the latest, and potentially most consequential, of Donald J. Trump’s apprentices to accept the position in prime time. For years as the host of “The Apprentice,” Mr. Trump picked out protégés from boardrooms full of young supplicants. Offend him and you might be dismissed; appear too thirsty and you could get the boot as well. Mr. Vance spent much of his two years in the Senate auditioning for the promotion to vice-presidential nominee, cultivating a relationship, apologizing for his Never-Trumper apostasy and recently blaming Biden campaign rhetoric for leading “directly” to the assassination attempt against Mr. Trump.

Vance’s Republican National Convention speech capped a night Republicans spent prosecuting what they see as President Joe Biden’s biggest foreign policy failures and their consequences. Republicans used Wednesday night to introduce Vance and his life story to the nation. You owe President Trump answers!” Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn shouted at Cheatle, who continued to walk with her head down and ignore the senators’ criticism. Energy security and energy policy are in the governor’s comfort zone and that was on full display Wednesday night. When Trump finally did call Burgum, the former president told Burgum he would not be his running mate.

Like former President Donald Trump, Vance underlined a populist Republican Party to the point that he came out to a Merle Haggard hit that was written in protest of the war in Iraq. In selecting Vance, Trump eschewed the traditional considerations in finding a running mate. "He chose to endure abuse, slander, and persecution, and he did it because he loves this country," Vance said. Milwaukee CNN —Donald Trump will pull off his greatest feat yet as Joe Biden confronts his darkest hour. The 45th president’s comeback will only be fully realized if he becomes the second one-term president to win a return to the White House in November. But that’s one reason why his campaign is pulling its punches on Biden in the hope he stays in the race. President Joe Biden gestures to reporters as he steps off Air Force One upon arrival at Dover Air Force Base on July 17, 2024. After Trump escaped the assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, his campaign has leveraged the aftermath to reshape his image.

"Meanwhile, President Joe Biden and I have created nearly 800,000 new manufacturing jobs — so much so it's been described as a manufacturing boom." The vice president's remarks come amid intense pressure from top Democrats for Biden to drop out of the presidential race. According to media reports, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have both told Biden that his bid for reelection could endanger the party's electoral chances in both chambers of Congress. And while Democratic megadonors pressure Biden to step aside, donor events that feature Harris have started to sell out.

Can Boeing get back to its glory days?

Then on Jan. 5, about six minutes and 16,000 feet into a packed flight out of Portland, Oregon, a door plug blew out of a nearly new Boeing 737 Max 9. The Federal Aviation Administration barred Boeing from increasing output of its Max planes and stepped up hands-on inspections at production plants. The 737 was dubbed "Baby Boeing" and went on to become the company's bestseller, helping to make Boeing the largest U.S. exporter. Pilots in those Boeing planes fought against a flight-control system, the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System, that pushed the nose of the planes downward repeatedly. Boeing has said it aims to increase rates to about 50 Max planes a month in the next few years.

Vance Will Introduce Himself to American Voters

Vance is 39 years old and has spent just 18 months as the junior senator from Ohio; he had never even attended a national political convention before this year. But tonight, the newly minted Republican vice-presidential nominee will introduce himself to millions of Americans as one of the party’s most powerful figures. You can expect Vance to use the prime-time address to tell his personal story, our political correspondent Michael Bender told me. So far, Vance has received a mostly warm welcome in Milwaukee, where the party’s convention is in its third day. “We’re at a moment in time right now where Trump can do no wrong in the party’s eyes,” Michael said.

Democrats’ rebellion against President Biden intensified on Wednesday with the party’s congressional leaders lobbying successfully to delay his nomination by a week, prolonging the debate over the viability of his candidacy. The maneuver came as Representative Adam B. Schiff of California became the highest-profile Democratic lawmaker to call on Mr. Biden to end his run. More details have emerged of heated conversations the president has held with lawmakers in which he has angrily pushed back on their entreaties for him to drop out of the race. Mr. Biden’s disastrous debate performance last month, his uneven public appearances and his struggles in the polls have fueled deep worries within his party. Congressional Democrats have also warned that Mr. Biden’s sagging political standing will make it far harder for them to win critical House and Senate races in November.

But one narrative has quickly taken hold in parts of the right-wing media ecosystem: The security failure was the result of workforce diversity initiatives and women working as Secret Service agents. Matt Walsh, a far-right media personality, wrote a series of posts on the social media platform X assailing the notion of women working as Secret Service agents. “There should not be any women in the Secret Service. “Female agents were also among those guarding Trump’s armored SUV as it prepared to depart the scene,” said Campbell. Associations that represent women in law enforcement reacted to the unfounded attacks on female agents with disappointment and alarm.
