Trump said he opposed that date in a filing posted shortly after prosecutors made their request. "This proposed trial date balances potential delays from Defendant Trump's other criminal trials in sister sovereigns and the other defendants' constitutional speedy trial rights," Willis said. Willis said in Friday's filing that prosecutors would be able to try Trump and all remaining defendants in the case together in one trial. The Georgia trial will have to compete with three other criminal cases against Trump, which are all scheduled to go to trial next year. The New York hush-money trial is scheduled for March, though that date could change as well.

HENRICO, Va. (AP) — Susanna Gibson lost her Virginia legislative race this month, but she may not be done with politics. But that is my plan.”Gibson said she had no idea the videos existed until they were brought to her attention by reporters. “What is newsworthy is abortion rights are on the line in Virginia,” she said. She won a competitive June primary and centered her message to voters on protecting abortion rights as the state's Republican governor, Glenn Youngkin, pledged to enact stricter limits. Abortion rights groups and a leading LGBTQ+ advocacy group continued to support her campaign.

A prosecutor asked a judge to Friday to schedule the Georgia election interference criminal trial of former President Donald Trump and his co-defendants to begin on Aug. 5 — exactly three months before the 2024 presidential Election Day. "The State clearly retains the logistical and prosecutorial capabilities to try all of the remaining Defendants together," Willis said in her motion. Trump's campaign spokesman said, "Radical Democrat Fani Willis has again proven that her case is purely political, designed to interfere with President Trump's re-election by demanding a trial date in the most vital time in President Trump's winning campaign." "Crooked Joe Biden knows he can't beat President Trump and this corrupt step by Fani Willis is just further proof of that fact," the spokesman said. The Manhattan Supreme Court judge in that case has said he will willing to re-schedule it to avoid a conflict with Trump's trial earlier that same month in Washington.

NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump has given up on his monthslong fight to move his New York hush-money criminal case to federal court, agreeing to proceed in a state court that he contends is “very unfair” to him. Hellerstein ruled that the hush-money case involved a personal matter, not presidential duties. The hush-money case has proceeded in state court while the fight over moving it to federal court played out. In state court, the jury pool is limited to heavily Democratic Manhattan, where Trump is wildly unpopular. In federal court it’s more politically diverse, drawing also from suburban counties north of New York City where Trump has more political support.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge in Florida on Friday declined to delay Donald Trump’s classified documents trial, calling a request by the former president's defense lawyers to postpone the date “premature.” But she postponed other deadlines in the case and signaled that she would revisit the trial date later. Cannon signaled during a hearing this month, and again in her written order on Friday, that she was sympathetic to the defense arguments. She pushed back several deadlines for filing and responding to pretrial motions but left the trial date intact, though she said she would consider the defense request again at a scheduling conference next March. Trump is currently set for trial on March 4, 2024, in Washington on federal charges that he plotted to overturn the 2020 presidential election, which he lost to Democrat Joe Biden. In addition, Trump has been sued in a business fraud case in New York, where a trial is taking place.

Mr. Trump’s lawyers have long highlighted for him the perils of speaking under oath to those seeking to hold him to account. Mr. Trump, eschewing his instinct to talk and bully his way out of a problem, has chosen silence when the legal stakes are highest. He eventually had a change of heart in the attorney general’s case, answering questions under oath in a deposition this spring. Mr. Trump got off on the wrong foot with the judge, Arthur F. Engoron, who will decide the outcome of the trial. At one point, Justice Engoron summoned Mr. Trump to the witness stand to determine whether he had broken the rule.

Two days earlier, the body of 38-year-old Krystal Marshall was recovered from the charred remains of her home after a house fire in South Australia, according to SA Police. The number of women killed by violence in Australia has ranged between 43 and 84 each years since Counting Dead Women began tallying deaths in 2012. Since then, she said she’s noticed a change in the way people, including the police, respond to domestic violence. But until those lessons are learned, state authorities are strengthening their responses to domestic violence. Whitford says it takes the community to come together to prevent more women becoming victims of domestic violence.

Relational aggression among teens isn’t anything new, but it can be especially hideous when it plays out alongside cyberbullying. Relational aggression among minors is complexCancel culture trickled down to teens, tweens and even younger children, and the combination of cyberbullying and social isolation in school can be swift. Protective factors are essentialTeens need sources of support and understanding when they’re dealing with relational aggression and cyberbullying, and this is where protective factors become important. • Research the reporting options at your teen’s school in case your teen decides to seek help on campus. There are currently no federal laws in the United States against the creation and sharing of non-consensual deepfake pornography. This is the online landscape that has allowed creating and trading non-consensual deepfake pornography to develop into a thriving business. With advancements in artificial intelligence, deepfake pornography is becoming increasingly common — and it almost exclusively targets women. Deepfake porn sites are facilitated and enabled by search engines that drive web traffic toward deepfake content. In the US, however, only a handful of states have laws addressing non-consensual deepfake pornography, and many of them are limited in scope.

It's one, he argues, where finally finding agreement on a long-sought two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict should be a priority. The White House says Biden conveyed the same message directly to Netanyahu during a telephone call this past week. “It also means that when this crisis is over, there has to be a vision of what comes next, and in our view it has to be a two-state solution,” Biden said. By Andrew GoudswardWASHINGTON (Reuters) - A U.S. judge on Friday asked former President Donald Trump whether he wants to appear on television when he stands trial in federal court on charges of attempting to overturn his 2020 election defeat. U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan in Washington asked Trump’s lawyers to give their opinion by Nov. 10 on media requests to broadcast the trial, which is scheduled to begin in March 2024. They argue that a federal rule barring broadcast of criminal proceedings is unconstitutional. Trump has made extensive comments to TV cameras staked outside a New York state courtroom, where he is currently standing trial on civil business-fraud charges.
