Previous rounds of sanctions have focused on Ortega, his wife and vice president, Rosario Murillo, and members of their family and inner circle. Together with the Treasury Department’s simultaneous sanctioning of Nicaragua’s General Directorate of Mines, the order all but makes it illegal for Americans to do business with Nicaragua’s gold industry. The Biden administration’s targeting of the gold industry could sap Ortega’s government of one of its biggest sources of revenue. According to Nicaragua’s Central Bank, the country exported a record 348,532 ounces of gold in 2021 and the country’s mining association projects exports totaling 500,000 ounces in 2023. Nicaraguans began fleeing their country in 2018, initially to neighboring Costa Rica, after Ortega violently put down massive street protests.
SAN JOSE, Costa Rica — The RSG Group of gym outlets, including Gold’s Gym and McFit, confirmed Monday that founder and CEO Rainer Schaller, family and friends were aboard a small plane that disappeared from radar just off Costa Rica’s Caribbean coast. “We are shocked, stunned, and full of grief about this tragic accident,” the RSG statement read. Costa Rican authorities said pieces of the twin-engine turboprop aircraft were found in the water Saturday, after the flight went missing Friday. Schaller was in the news in 2010 for his role as organizer of the Berlin Love Parade techno festival. Schaller fought back against the accusations of wrongdoing, noting that his security concept received official city approval.

Azpilicueta's team mate N'Golo Kante has been ruled out of the World Cup after undergoing an operation on a hamstring injury, while Reece James is in a race to be fit for the tournament after injuring his knee. Chelsea have three league fixtures, two Champions League games and a League Cup tie before the World Cup in Qatar begins on Nov. 20. "We are fighting a lot for player welfare because the schedule is crazy. A man by the same name runs international chains of fitness and gym outlets, including Gold’s Gym and McFit. Lona Alia and her husband are digital nomads, working remotely while traveling the world with their children. They save money this way through "geo-arbitrage," living in lower-cost countries while earning a US salary. Expenses like food and childcare are much cheaper in the countries she visits than in the US, Alia said. Nearly 17 million Americans describe themselves as digital nomads, a 9% increase from 2021 and 131% from 2019, MBO Partners' 2022 State of Independence study found from a survey of more than 6,000 US adults, including 901 current digital nomads. Alia says the geo-arbitrage of living in lower-cost countries has allowed her family to save "so much money."
Wreckage of a plane reportedly carrying German business mogul Rainer Schaller was found off the coast of Costa Rica. "Twenty-eight kilometers from the Limón airport, in the Caribbean Sea, wreckage was located that apparently indicates that it is the aircraft. At the moment we have not located any bodies or people alive," Costa Rican Vice Minister of Public Security Martin Arias said. Schaller is the founder and CEO of RSG Group, which owns McFit, John Reed, and Gold's Gym fitness studios around the world. He bought Gold's Gym after the company filed for bankruptcy in 2020 as part of a $100 million deal.
SAN JOSE, Oct 22 (Reuters) - Costa Rican authorities said they found wreckage on Saturday believed to be from a plane carrying five German citizens which lost contact along the Caribbean coast. The wreckage was located early on Saturday morning about 17 miles (28 kilometers) from the country's Limon airport, Costa Rica's deputy security minister said. Authorities had not yet located any bodies or survivors. Costa Rican authorities received an alert on Friday night about the missing plane, chartered for a private flight, which was en route from Mexico to Costa Rica's Limon airport, Security Minister Jorge Torres said earlier. The aircraft had lost communication with the control tower near Barra de Parismina, a few minutes from Limon, according to Torres.

Jesus Ferreira's early header had sailed over the bar from Sergino Dest's cross in an encouraging start for the United States, but that was to prove a rare sight of goal for Gregg Berhalter's side. Arsenal goalkeeper Turner ensured the United States were not on the end of a heavier defeat with a string of fine saves in the second half. The 28-year-old kept out a 55th minute effort from Junya Ito before denying Kamada a second of the game 10 minutes later. But there was nothing Turner could do to prevent Mitoma from adding Japan's second in the 88th minute. The Japanese will be appearing at their seventh consecutive World Cup in November and have been drawn to face Germany, Spain and Costa Rica in the group phase while the United States meet England, Iran and Wales.

The money I've saved is equivalent to what I'd have spent on long-term rentals or short-term Airbnb rentals. My tiny studio in Durban was $220 a month, excluding utilities, and it was in a cheap area in someone's backyard. The trade-off is I get free accommodation, while the homeowner gets free house- and pet-sitting. I've received multiple invitations for house-sits that I didn't apply for, including a six-month house-sit in Costa Rica that I wasn't available for. Under "My experience," the final section, I detailed the type of house-sits I've done and the various animals I've looked after.

Scientists have estimated the number of ants on earth, which is "unimaginable," a study author said. Per the study, there are 20 quadrillion ants on earth— 20 followed by 15 zeros. That's about 2.5 million ants per human. The astonishing number — 20,000,000,000,000,000 — means there would be about 2.5 million ants per single human living today. "We simply cannot imagine 20 quadrillion ants in one pile, for example.

What are credit card and bank rewards points worth? One great feature of the program is that all points are equal, so any account that earns Membership Rewards points has access to transfer partners. If you're a Bank of America Preferred Rewards customer, you'll earn 25% to 75% more points, depending on how much you have on deposit, but your rewards points are still worth 1 cent apiece. However, those miles expire after 36 months regardless of your account activity, so only transfer miles when you have immediate plans to redeem them. Non-elite members may transfer points to other members with the same address, provided both parties have been members for at least one year.
