It was July, and Gaetz — who will oversee the Federal Bureau of Prisons if he becomes attorney general — was visiting El Salvador’s notorious Terrorism Confinement Center (Cecot), where gang leaders and murderers are locked up and from which they are never released. “This is the solution” for El Salvador, Gaetz added, in a video released by Bukele. That trip came just a month after Gaetz, Donald Trump Jr. and others traveled to Bukele’s second inauguration. Gaetz founded a congressional El Salvador caucus with Democratic Rep. CNN —After the suicide of a nonbinary student last February spurred a monthslong federal investigation, the US Department of Education found Title IX violations in an Oklahoma public school district including multiple failures to respond to notices of sexual harassment. The DOE’s Office of Civil Rights announced a resolution Wednesday with the Owasso Public School District to remedy Title IX violations linked to sexual harassment in district schools. The OCR investigation began last March, weeks after the death of nonbinary teen, Nex Benedict. The investigation also identified several other instances in the last three years when district staff failed to properly respond to sexual harassment complaints. The agreement between the DOE and the school district requires the district to implement new policies and procedures and additional training for staff and students.

Medications filled through Amazon Pharmacy are eligible for discounted pricing and will be delivered to patients' doors in standard Amazon packaging. Analysts at Bank of America downgraded shares of Hims & Hers from buy to underperform on Thursday, citing Amazon's push into hair loss and erectile dysfunction markets. The analysts said Hims & Hers generates more than 80% gross margins from its core erectile dysfunction and hair loss offerings, and estimate that Amazon's medications for those conditions are about 42% and 29% cheaper respectively. CNN —Ford is being fined up to $165 million after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration ruled the company moved too slowly in recalling cars with faulty rearview cameras. The agency’s consent order says Ford failed to issue a “timely recall” and did not submit quarterly reports on time. The models covered by the Ford recall included the 2020 Ford Edge, Escape, Expedition, Explorer, F-150, Mustang, Ranger and Transit, as well as the Lincoln Corsair and Nautilus. Of the $165 million civil penalty fined by NHTSA, Ford must immediately pay $65 million up front. Ford and the NHTSA will meet quarterly to ensure its compliance with the terms of the consent order.

Domino's Pizza , Ulta Beauty — Shares surged about 8% after Berkshire Hathaway announced a new stake in the pizza chain in a regulatory filling. The Warren Buffett-led firm bought more than 1.2 million shares, making the stake worth around $550 million at the end of September. Applied Materials — The semiconductor equipment manufacturer slid 5% after offering a weak revenue outlook for the current quarter. Applied Materials said to anticipate $7.15 billion in the first fiscal quarter, under the estimate of $7.224 billion from analysts polled by LSEG. Palantir will continue trading under the same ticker and expects to meet requirements to be listed in the Nasdaq 100 .
