Tokyo Reuters —The Japanese government ordered Toyota Motor on Wednesday to make “drastic reforms” after discovering new violations in the automaker’s vehicle certification procedures. In a so-called corrective order, the Transport Ministry said on-site inspections had uncovered widespread, intentional misconduct and irregularities in seven additional models that had not been previously disclosed. Toyota and four other vehicle makers admitted in June they had submitted either flawed or manipulated data when applying for certification of vehicles. Toyota said it was planning to resume production of these models from the beginning of September after the Transport Ministry confirmed they met compliance requirements. The ministry said six of the seven additional Toyota models with irregularities were also certified in other countries, and it had alerted overseas authorities about the issues.

Former President Donald Trump is rushed offstage by U.S. Secret Service agents after being grazed by a bullet during a rally on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania. Anna Moneymaker/Getty ImagesMore than two weeks after Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt, federal investigators are still trying to uncover the motive of the former president’s would-be assassin. Rojek also said that Trump has agreed to sit for a victim interview with the FBI – a routine part of criminal investigations. Crooks, Rojek said, used aliases to make firearms-related purchases online, beginning in the spring of 2023. CNN has reported that text messages between law enforcement before the shooting began suggest that some officers raised Crooks’ presence at the rally more than 90 minutes before he climbed onto a roof and began firing at Trump.

With Harris at the top of the ticket, Democrats now see a chance to refocus voters on the issue and restore their margins among the abortion rights voters who had notably drifted away from Biden. In both the 2020 and 2022 campaigns, voters who backed legal abortion provided overwhelming support to Biden and other Democratic candidates. Across all of those battleground states, Biden this year was performing well below that level with voters who support legal abortion, polls have found. Those abortion rights voters also split about evenly on whether Biden or Trump was better for the economy. “Many of them aren’t single issue abortion voters; they are worried about the economy and inflation, they are worried about immigration,” McLaughlin said.

Luxury real estate"There has been a noticeable increase in transactions within Shanghai's luxury real estate sector," said James Macdonald, head of China research at global real estate firm Savills, attributing it to a recent policy easing by the government. That said, China's luxury real estate market is still primarily concentrated in the core areas of first-tier cities, said Li. The adviser, Timothy Pearson, also once sexually abused a female pastor, manipulated her into having sex with him and was abusive during the encounter about 10 years ago — prompting her to file a criminal complaint against him, the suit says. The lawsuit is the fourth action this year to accuse Mr. Pearson of sexual harassment. Like two of the others, it was brought by a male police official who said he was disgusted by Mr. Pearson’s treatment of women at a small unit Mr. Adams created to improve government efficiency. Mr. Pearson declined to comment, referring a reporter to a City Hall spokeswoman and a lawyer the city has hired to represent him. That lawyer denied any wrongdoing on Mr. Pearson’s behalf and said he would vigorously defend him and the city against the claims.

Ukraine’s campaign to replenish its war-weary troops is ramping up and should help fill personnel gaps on the front line in the coming weeks, according to Ukrainian officials, soldiers and military analysts. The mobilization push has so far not significantly bolstered Ukraine’s forces on the battlefield, those people say. And some recruits who have arrived are not physically fit for combat, members of Ukrainian units have noted. But several brigades deployed on the battlefield have reported an increase in the number of conscripts they have received in recent weeks. They said they were hoping that the influx of soldiers would help Ukraine to stabilize the front line this summer.

Microsoft shares dipped on Wednesday as investors looked past better-than-expected earnings and revenue and focused instead on disappointing cloud results. But executives provided a dose of optimism when they predicted a cloud growth speed-up in the first half of 2025. Of the 29% growth for Azure and other cloud services, 8 percentage points came from AI services, Microsoft said. But demand for Azure AI services remained higher than available capacity, said Amy Hood, Microsoft's finance chief. She said Azure growth in June was slightly lower than expected across some parts of Europe.

AMD sold off on its first-quarter earnings report due in large part to its MI300 sales guidance falling short of sky-high expectations. Nvidia remains the dominant player in AI chips, but AMD is continuing to carve out a lane in the rapidly expanding market. Among the highlights, Su said Microsoft has expanded its use of the AI chips for certain software applications, including messaging app Teams. AMD's data center business is now nearly 50% of companywide revenues, up from 37% in the fourth quarter of 2023. Within data center, sales of both AI chips and traditional server chips will grow in the third quarter, Su said.

This drop in such a short period seems overly exaggerated, and I'm on the lookout for signs of a bounce to initiate a bullish trade on CRWD. DMI (Directional Movement Index): The DMI is composed of three lines: DI+ (green line), DI- (red line), and ADX (blue line). When the DI- (red line) is above the DI+ (green line), it indicates a downtrend. Note that both DI- and DI+ are changing direction, which provides the first indication of a possible trend change. Despite that, P & G had a spotty quarter, which could give fuel to investors worried that a deterioration in the consumer would make its guidance harder to achieve. Nevertheless, P & G still fills an important role in a diversified portfolio, and its business is on solid footing. That includes North America, where organic sales grew 4%, and Europe, where organic sales increased 2% despite a difficult 12% comparison in the year-ago period. That helps explain how you get organic sales in China down 9%, albeit a slight sequential improvement from the 10% drop in the third quarter. It saw a mid-single digit decrease in organic sales because of market-share losses for its Luvs diapers.

"Reversing the narrative and re-establishing our position as the leader on value and affordability is possible, but it cannot be done overnight," he wrote. Erlinger also acknowledged areas where the company was "falling short" in the U.S. this quarter.
