I first tried to get into Meta in 2021 and every year after that until I finally landed the job at the beginning of this year. AdvertisementBy the fourth time I applied, I passed the coding interview, but I failed the stage where there was an interview with a group of engineers. Having previous experience interviewing at Meta helped me land the job. Brushing up on my technical skills also helped me to land a job at Meta. London AP —A rare polar bear that was spotted outside a cottage in a remote village in Iceland was shot by police after being considered a threat, authorities said Friday. “In this case, as you can see in the picture, the bear was very close to a summer house. The bear shot on Thursday was the first one seen in the country since 2016. It also found there was a healthy bear population in east Greenland where any bear was likely to have come from. After the shot bear was taken away, the woman who reported it decided to stay longer in the village, Jensson said

At the end of my work days, I often found myself sitting in my car, bursting into tears. All of this prompted me to quit my job in the worst way possible. My actions created discomfort at the officeLater that day, my boss sent an email to everyone detailing my resignation. Instead, I lied, which any boss would be able to see through, and that created distrust in those last four weeks. I didn't burn any bridges, but there was a sour taste left in both our mouths.

Longtime value investor Bill Nygren warned that the popular benchmark S & P 500 is not as diversified as it used to be, and he is picking cheap stocks outside the dominant tech sector. Nygren, portfolio manager at Oakmark Funds for 40 years, said the technology sector has grown so powerful in the S & P 500 that the 25 or so largest names make up about half the investment. "It's not nearly as diversified as investors think it is. I think we will see investors revisit the idea of the S & P 500 being kind of the low-risk way to invest in equities," Nygren said on CNBC's " Money Movers " on Monday. "It's become so important to us that we invest with companies that are taking matters into their own hands and using excess capital to repurchase their own stock," Nygren said.

"It is inconsistent to say that the incoming economic data is strong but the labor market is weakening," Slok wrote. AdvertisementHowever, consumption and business spending data have been strong in recent months. If the 30-year fixed rate slumps to around 5%, that could that could spark a rebound in home sales, providing a boost to the economy and job market, Slok said. In the flood of election polls you’ll see over the next few weeks, most polling groups will include responses from “likely voters.” And often from nobody else. In theory, these poll numbers should yield more accurate results, since the people who actually vote are the ones who dictate the outcome on Election Day. After all, how exactly can a pollster know who is “likely” to vote, and who therefore will be the focus of their results? The choices they make are important, because the results of likely-voter polls can differ from those that sample a wider population, such as everyone who is registered to vote. In a close race like this year’s presidential contest, one candidate might lead in a poll among likely voters, while another might lead in the same poll’s tally of registered voters.

In a Monday-morning appearance on CNBC, Evercore founder Roger Altman praised the Fed for delivering "nearly perfect" economic conditions, citing strength in equities, profits, and employment. Only inflation — which still hovers above the Fed's 2% target rate — is holding off an official soft landing declaration, he said. AdvertisementAlthough there are some concerns rate cuts will reignite inflation, Altman is expecting to see a slowdown this week when new consumption-expenditures data is released. Related stories"I think what essentially happened was that the Fed saw the path on inflation steadily downward as more certain than the path on labor markets, a little more uncertainty about labor markets," Altman said. "So it took a stronger step to fortify labor markets, and went for 50."
