Talajic found that Disney World raised prices 22 out of the past 35 years, and Universal raised theirs 23 times. Jeffrey Talajic/MagicTripTools.comMindy Marzec, who runs the travel website thisfairytalelife.com, said she always jokes that three things in life are certain: death, taxes and Disney parks raising ticket prices. In Florida, guests can save between $60 and $200 per night on Disney World ticket and hotel packages for much of the first half of 2025. Another deal on the Disney World website offers hotel discounts between 10% and 25% on many dates from January through April.

Still, the company has sought to offer discounted tickets and hotel stays for those who opt to visit Disneyland during off-peak periods. Much like the airline, hotel and even concert entertainment industries, Disney's theme parks operate on a demand-based pricing model. But to handle demand, Disney has a tiered ticket system. Tier 0 is the lowest demand, the $104 base ticket price, while Tier 6 is the highest demand and will see an increase of $12 to $206 per ticket. Disney's online ticketing website for those theme parks — Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Epcot — already reflects pricing increases for 2025, which were reported back in February.

In the past few days, Hurricane Milton has morphed from a pesky storm system in the Gulf of Mexico to a historic hurricane that Florida Gov. A notification popped up on her Disney app informing her that the resort was monitoring a quickly progressing storm. Farther inland, in the greater Orlando area where Disney is located, the Orlando airport announced it would be closing at 8 a.m. Wednesday. Only a handful of hurricanes have forced the parks to close in Disney’s more than 50-year history, according to the fan-run Walt Disney World Magazine.

Projected park closures and disruptions from Hurricane Milton could cut into Walt Disney 's earnings, according to Goldman Sachs analysts. Goldman Sachs reduced its estimate for Disney's fiscal 2025 earnings per share from $5.22 to $5.14. The storm is projected to make landfall around the Tampa area, which hasn't been hit directly by a hurricane since 1921. The storm is then projected to head toward Orlando, where Disney World is located, as it decreases in intensity. Spokespeople for Disney did not immediately respond to CNBC's request for comment on the new earnings estimates.

☆ GLAAD finds overall decline in LGBTQ representation in major studio films

GLAAD, the LGBTQ media advocacy organization, has released its 12th annual Studio Responsibility Index tracking films released during 2023. Despite “a huge increase in LGBTQ characters who were front and center in their own narratives,” the study found the number of films with LGBTQ characters dropped in 2023. The survey looked at 256 films from 10 major distributors and their subsidiaries and streaming services. Those 70 films included 170 LGBTQ characters, of which 46% were characters of color, representing an increase of 6% from the 2022 study. If LGBTQ representation continues to decline in major releases, these companies will lose relevance with a crucial buying audience.

TOKYO — Japan’s government and people cheered the record trophy haul for period drama “Shogun” at the Emmy Awards as yet another win for their history and culture, which are becoming increasingly popular with tourists and international audiences alike. Indeed's ranking found that companies with higher work wellbeing scores also have higher valuations, returns on assets and profits. "Companies that provide choice are the ones that tend to have a much better reputation among their employees," M.K.
