I moved to New York, where I landed a job with a fine-art gallery and auction house. I left the art scene in New York and worried how I'd be able to make a living from art and antiques there. For a while, I sold antiques I'd bought on eBay and Etsy and did freelance work for clients in New York. I wanted to work in antiques remotelyI wanted to be able to work from home helping people around the world identify the value of art, antiques, and collectibles. REUTERS/Remo Casilli/File PhotoROME, June 29 (Reuters) - Italian police have identified a couple from England as the likely culprits after graffiti was scribbled on a wall at the Colosseum in Rome last week, prompting widespread anger. Italy's Carabinieri police said they had been helped to identify the couple by photographic evidence but did not name them. A police source said the man had been placed under formal investigation but the couple had left the country before the authorities could catch up with them. "This act was offensive to everyone around the world who appreciates the value of archaeology, monuments and history," said Italian Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano.

ROME, June 27 (Reuters) - Italian authorities are looking for a tourist who scribbled graffiti on a wall of the Colosseum, with Culture Minister Gennaro Sangiuliano calling for exemplary punishment for the so-far unidentified man. The tourist was caught in a video, posted on social media on Saturday, scratching his and his girlfriend's name with a key on an internal wall of the ancient Roman stone amphitheatre. He can be seen smiling, even as the author of the video, speaking in English and using swear words, reprimands him. Annie F. Downs cringes when she describes her younger self. “I was not great at being a teenager,” she says. “Some of my friends knew how to dress, they knew how to be cool, they knew what to say to boys, I just didn’t know any of that.” The term “late bloomer” didn’t feel apt at the time because she worried she would never bloom at all. By her 20s, however, Ms. Downs felt not just older but wiser, and suspected her stories could help ease the growing pains of others. She scribbled her thoughts on weekends and printed them out for the teenage girls who came to her Bible study group on Monday nights in Marietta, Ga. “By the end of that first semester, one of them said, ‘Hey, will you print one more of these and staple it like a book so I can give it to my friend?’ And I said, ‘Oh, did I just write a book?” she recalls.

Google is working on an AI model to translate hard-to-read handwriting, like on doctors' notes. The company announced it's working with pharmacists on the AI model that will be in Google Lens. Doctors' handwriting can potentially lead to deadly consequences for patients, Time reported, citing a 2006 study from the National Academies of Science's Institute of Medicine. However, a 1996 study published in the National Library of Medicine found that doctors' handwriting is no worse than that of people who aren't doctors. "This study fails to support the conventional wisdom that doctors' handwriting is worse than others'," the study's authors concluded.
“I haven’t seen sunlight in what seems like a long time,” Li told CNN, a week after the protests broke out. In recent years, Beijing has extended its crackdown on dissent to the foreign platform, detaining and jailing Chinese Twitter users who criticized the government. TwitterLi received thousands of submissions a day – and up to dozens per second at the height of the protests. Journalists, observers and activists monitored his feed closely, and some of his posts were aired on televisions across the world. Manhattan jurors are being asked by the defense to see Donald Trump as a forgiving, generous boss. In summations, prosecutors may call the 'Trump is just generous' defense a total turkey. The tuition schemeTake the total $359,000 in tuition checks Trump or his son, Eric Trump, signed for ex-CFO Allen Weisselberg's grandchildren. Instead, under the "generous Trump" defense, the checks, written from Trump's personal account, are explained away as not a suspicious, tax-dodging perk at all, but a "gift." Here, the defense can be expected to tell jurors that Trump is not only a generous boss, but a forgiving one, too.
CNN —The NFL says the two game officials seen in a video interacting with Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Mike Evans were not asking for the wide receiver’s autograph. “After speaking with the individuals involved, we have confirmed that the postgame interaction between Jeff Lamberth, Tripp Sutter, and Mike Evans did not involve a request by the game officials for an autograph. Evans walks onto the field during warm ups prior to the game against the Carolina Panthers. Eakin Howard/Getty ImagesOn Tuesday, Evans told reporters he and side judge Lamberth were talking about golf. NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero reports the interaction centered around Lamberth getting Evans’ phone number to introduce the wide receiver to a golf pro for lessons.
Obtained by CNNCNN spoke with two Chinese citizens who scribbled protest slogans in bathroom stalls and half a dozen overseas Chinese students who put up anti-Xi posters on their campuses. Chen had tried to share the Sitong Bridge protest on WeChat, China’s super app, but it kept getting censored. But as the widespread anti-Xi posters have shown, the rising nationalistic sentiment is by no means representative of all Chinese students overseas. In the day following the protest in Beijing, Jolie saw on Instagram an outpouring of photos showing protest posters from all over the world. But the extensive censorship around the Sitong Bridge protest also betrays its paranoia.

The candidates most targeted by political violence and threats tend to be Black women and LGBT people, especially trans women, said researcher Cesar Munoz of Human Rights Watch. "Attacks on trans candidates, especially threats against transfeminine identities are much more intense, violent and numerous than against any other candidate," said Benavides of Rio de Janeiro-based ANTRA. "Political parties often don't take these threats seriously, especially against trans women," Munoz said. Reuters interviewed eight trans and travesti candidates who reported threats and intimidation on the campaign trail.
