Ticket prices for planes leaving Russia jumped on Saturday and quickly sold out for some popular destinations as Wagner's columns were advancing toward Moscow.
On aviasales.ru, which searches through numerous travel agents and airline sites, there were no direct flights left for Saturday to Istanbul, a popular destination for Russians who fled the country last year when the Kremlin began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine and then later issued a military draft.
Direct flights for Sunday to the Turkish city cost more than usual, upward of $850.
