A driverless robotaxi autonomous vehicle developed by Baidu Apollo driving along a street in Beijing. SHANGHAI — Chinese tech company Baidu said Wednesday its Apollo Go robotaxi arm expects to turn profitable next year. The projection comes as Elon Musk has emphasized his plans to build up Tesla's robotaxi efforts amid a decline in revenue. Baidu on Wednesday announced Apollo's 6th generation robotaxi will cost around 200,000 yuan ($28,169) — or less than half that of the prior generation, the company said. Others in the auto industry remain more skeptical about fully driverless cars, which require broad regulatory approval in order to operate.

Japan is not seeking a strong yen but rather aiming for a relatively stable currency, according to veteran investor David Roche. The Japanese yen has been on a roller coaster ride, with the currency breaking past 160 against the greenback last week — steepest decline in more than three decades. "The Japanese are not aiming at a particularly strong yen. Japan could not "possibly speak to have policy that really results in a strong yen unless they tighten monetary policy," Roche said, adding that it would involve raising interest rates by at least 50 basis points and allowing "unsterilized intervention" of the yen. As far as I can see from the statistics, they've [Bank of Japan] done nothing like that," Roche noted.

I wanted to set foot on the European and Asian side of Istanbul during a recent visit with my kids. A $1 commuter ferry was the cheapest option for us to go from the European side to the Asian side. The ride was only 20 minutes each way, and I was surprised not to see more tourists on the ferry. Plus, although they technically go through Asia, none of the cruises I found let passengers disembark in Asia. Instead of sitting inside, we made our way to the second level of the ferry and took seats on the rooftop deck.

After three decades researching human hope and happiness, I discovered a method you can use to measure your happiness. It's based on this simple equation: Hope ÷ Hunger = Happiness This math formula — hope divided by hunger equals happiness — says that the more hopeful and less hungry you are, the happier you become. If you're flourishing, on the other hand, it means you're happy, full of hope, and functioning well emotionally and socially. So if you can confidently make these six statements, you're flourishing — living a happier, more hopeful life than most people:1. When you have something to contribute, it means you're a consequential member of the community.
