It's a trend often fueled by economic downturns and one that some stay-at-home dads hope will stick around. A husband may lose his job or something like that and decide to be a stay-at-home dad, but then he chooses to remain a stay-at-home dad," Shannon Carpenter, a stay-at-home dad for 15 years and the author of "The Ultimate Stay-at-Home Dad," told Insider. And you can see the change starts with stay-at-home dads, that that is an option for us to go through." How stay-at-home dads are changingOver the past 30 years, the number of stay-at-home parents has been on the rise — but the number of stay-at-home moms has essentially stayed flat. But there seems to be some evidence that changing gender norms are contributing to the rise in stay-at-home dads."

CNN —Given the power to change anything on the PGA Tour, Jon Rahm says he would prioritize one addition above all others. “I know this is going to sound very stupid, but as simple as having a freaking porta potty on every hole. CNN has contacted the PGA Tour for comment on Rahm’s request. Thrilled with the nutritionists on hand at The Players Championship, Rahm wants to see them employed across more PGA Tour events, as well as expansions of on-site workout facilities. “I’ve had a good career so far, and only once I’ve been able to get multiple PGA Tour wins,” Rahm said.

Marie is a childcare worker in Georgia, where she makes $15 an hour to teach 3-year-olds. She said that many childcare workers don't make enough to live on, leading to staffing shortages. In 2021, childcare workers made an average of $533 a week. Many childcare workers found themselves facing hard conditions and low pay — and, rather than accept those, left the profession entirely. That's led to labor shortages, which in turn has led to less-available childcare and fewer parents able to work.
A job posting for an executive assistant for a "high-profile art world family" recently went viral. Kim Austin and Mark Abair bicker like an old married couple. She chides him for always starting out too fast at races. On long runs, she rolls her eyes when he insists on finding a port-a-potty. Ms. Austin is married, but not to Mr. Abair. Instead, he serves as what hard-core exercisers call a workout husband—the exercise equivalent of a work spouse.
New Mexico is the first state to dedicate permanent funding for childcare. The amendment, which was the result of nearly a year of campaigning by thousands of childcare workers across the state, made New Mexico the first in the nation to allocate permanent funding to childcare. "New Mexico is a leader right now," Cindy Lehnhoff, Director of the National Child Care Association, told Insider. "Economies of scale do not apply to child care in the same way as with other economic sectors," Taryn Morrissey, an associate professor of public policy at American University, told Insider. The experts agree the best solution ties back to what New Mexico is doing right now: expanding government childcare funding.
Wasted is making fertilizer out of urine and just raised $7.5 million in fresh funding. Wasted, which he created alongside Taylor Zehren and Thor Retzlaff, is redesigning the porta-potty to ultimately turn human waste into agriculture fertilizer. At least 40 wastewater treatment plants were damaged as a result of the 2017 hurricane Harvey, which saw raw sewage spill out onto streets. Nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium are common fertilizers found in human waste but are typically extracted from the earth for use. There is a long history of some countries using untreated or partially-treated human waste as fertilizer.

"You get into a little bit of an argument and you're packing all your stuff," Deb LaBree told Insider about the couple's early trucking days.

Close cried as the verdict was read, as did members of Thallas’ family. Thallas’ mother, Anna Thallas, said she felt numb.
